Well i manage to get one wall (very small) clear of that crappy woodchip wallpaper, Its the bigger wall im not looking forward to. 2 of the other bedrooms have it also, i just wish it was easier to get off.

So, who else here runs Vista?

I came across something curious. When I had my 9400 laptop, with 7800Go and 256MB dedicated ram, Vista would double that to 512MB (i.e. add another 256MB from the system memory). I was running 2GB system ram on that machine.

Now with the new system and the 512MB 8800GT, Vista is adding another 1.5GB system ram (I have 4GB installed), giving me a whopping 2GB of graphics memory! Anyone else's machines have quadrupled their memory?

That's just weird.

And to top it off, the OS says I'm using 27% of my memory (about 900MB from the 3.3GB accessible), yet says I only have 18MB free (yes, megabytes!).

Almost as if it's taking any remaining available mem and applying it to the GPU.

I don't notice any slowness, so I guess it must be working fine...

Well if you don't feel it, it's probably just vista playing mind games with you

Has it only happened this time or does it happen every time you turn on the system? And if I remember correctly, vista allots tons of extra ram to the GPU for no apparent reason I think my 320mb GTS before got given maybe 640 additional, maybe only an extra 320.

Every time I use Vista it's like that. I just thought it doubled the memory, from what I saw with the old system, but maybe it's some new combination of high-end GPU, lots of Ram that makes Vista use more this time around.

It's just weird. It's not killing the system in any way

Yes I would have to agree, nice place to Visit in Winter time, Hot as Hell in the Summer, nice place to Visit

we will finish here Thursday and go back Home to the Snow if there is any left, It 56 degrees back home and heavy rain, should Flood the hell out of everything and melt most of the snow lol
