ok, reps are out and I've caught up on the last few days chatter
Happy belated Labour Day. I forgot totally about it because they don't have it over here in Germany.
So, I went to the IFA yesterday. The place was huge I saw most of it in 3.5 hours. All the big (and small) companies were there. I saw panasonics 150" plasma, dual 108" Sharp LCD's (they were playing wii-tennis on them). Sony has started selling the 11" OLED TV (for an astronomical price), but they also had a 27" OLED prototype that was just as thin. I personally liked the new Bravia's that come in a picture frame. It may just be my next TV
Almost all companies had an Asus EEE competitor. The Fujitsu-Siemens one looks great, and has much better specs than this EEE, but will start at 199 euros (about $300). I got literature and product guides from many of the companies. I saw the new remotes from Logitech, and their streaming stuff as well. There were some interesting mp3 players from iRiver.
The mobile phones were cool, and in addition to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the Samsung models also looked good (and there were so many new models). Almost every phone included a touch-screen, GPS, etc.
There was a lot there that wasn't new, and just the current product lineup. There were no new high-capacity flash cards. And there was a bunch that didn't really interest me, because they were all german companies, and would never make it over to North America anyways.
I think that sums it up. I'm sure all the details on the stuff is available on the net somewhere... in fact, I'm going to go look into those Logitech streaming devices now... word is, those should be available in Canada
