I'm lucky to get 10 days this year (two weeks). I have to work 5 years before I get another week. I also get 10 work holidays (8 statutory holidays and 2 "personal" days).

I still don't like it as much as the old style, though. Too much scrolling

I agree, that is one drawback.

Same here. You have no choice but get used to it. Unless you want to move somewhere else.

Well I didn't get any artifacts while I fired it up and I'm running off Dell drivers at the moment.

I miss it too. I haven't used that res since I had a 24" Dell some 3 years ago. Now I make do with the 1360x768 of my HDTV. That'd be one reason to upgrade to a 1080p TV. Just can't afford it, though

I think there maybe places around that repair those cards - maybe cheaper than buying one on Ebay etc.

Either that or just drop a 7900GS or fx1500/1600 into it then sell it.

It is sad, but considering the prices of repalcement GPU's unless your under warranty - not worth paying $ 500.00 for a replacement 7950GTX

I also wonder with the high heat with these GPU cards if the problem is actually a chip failure or if the Soldering on the surface mounted devices has degraded.

I used to work with SMT devices and 90 % of the faults we had were just devices requiring a reflowing of the solder on the chip.

WHen we inspected the SMT devices under a microscope we could see the legs had lifted up off the circuit board from the heat.

My thoughts exactly.

Why I was thinking of throwing my 7800 into this and buying another battery, then building a desktop and using this as a tuning/school laptop.
