Guys, Am just about to order m6400 covet and would like to be sure its not overkill or under played. Will be using the workstation for Autocad, 3ds max, photoshop and the like, apart from other work related stuff. (and yes, i will game as well. maybe some witcher, titan quest stuff.). And obviouly use it for entertainment while in travel.

heres the specs- Qx9300, 8 GB (2 x 4GB), RGB LED 1900x1200 edge to edge, 8x dvd+/-, single 500GB SATA HDD 7200 RPM (no RAID), nVidia quadro fx3700 1GB, intel 5300 wifi, bluetooth 370 (2.1), fingerprint reader(swipe), win7 OS 64 bit. Others are standard- 2MP webcam, microphones, back lit keyboard, etc.

I wish the machine had a hi-def video output (only VGA?) and atleast a dual-layer write capability optical drive (i cant seem to afford the BD writer right now. maybe i will get one when the external drives become cheaper).

what says?

Exactly.

Really, who cares? It's his life, let him deal with it. People seriously need a life (i.e. tabloid readers, paparazzi, etc, etc - the people who make this sort of stuff a global media issue)

The covet has been, and always will be, too expensive. It doesn't matter what you do with it. There are far less expensive laptops that will do the same thing. That said, if price is no issue (i.e. corporate is footing the bill, and believe me, that's usually the only way these things get sold), then by all means, buy something for style. Buy an Adamo, too, while you're at it lol

Long story short, no, the Covet isn't worth it.

Installed the new Parallels 5.0 on my IMac with Windows and the performance is excellent with Windows 7. I was very shocked. And it fully supports DirectX 9.0e which is good too...

Good morning, DRT. I am back from Toyota. I got a new wheel. They scraped the paint on it.
I will leave it there though, to mark that wheel. I will be able to tell it apart from the others.

Good luck with the meetings. It may be a long day for me. Rain could make things harder.

I am gonna bug you again Viper. Put this on your list, please, and when you have time, write up a small guide for us in the Apple Section as how to install Parallel and installing W7 in it

what says?

First get the basic memory config - Dell charges way too much for it and the M6400 can hold 4 DIMMS so you can use the much cheaper 4 x 2 GB DIMM option for the 8 GB.

It does have a display port if I recall - you should check the reviews section here for the M6400.

IT is a nice laptop, and I am very happy with mine.
