And Dave, you lost me with "boot loader". Are we talking a legal upgrade version?
Really, what I want is to get the upgrade (seeing as I already invested enough as it is with Vista), install it on a clean HDD, without having to install Vista first, and be able to upgrade any of my components in the future, without having the OS tied to the motherboard or something. I remember having an OEM XP Media Centre and having to call Microsoft when I wanted to change something (I think it was the video card).
Microsoft really makes this all more complicated than it should be.  lol

I did a clean install with it, did a registry hack and thats it, there is plenty on the web to show you how. Just do a search for clean install with windows 7 upgrade.
