Good to hear from ya, wraith! Good luck with your applications!

Traditional med schools are always tough to crack. But there are other alternative like Osteopathic Medicine Colleges/Universities that can get you to the end game just as good.

Drop by more often.

Oh I hear ya. Typical US school gets 10k apps, whittle it down to 500-1000 for interviews then take 100-150.

I have been considering Osteopathic though I don't have the requisite DO shadowing and it's another set of apps. Spend $10k so far just for MD. Also considered Canadian med schools though they don't take a lot of American students. Then again, neither do American med schools. I figure they're options I'll consider more if I reapply.

I'll definitely try. I'm in between research labs so hopefully it'll give me some time.

I heard there are some loopholes when it comes to dual citizenship in the US; for example, there is a verbal declaration for you to give up your original citizenship, but they don't necessarily enforce it. Even though you may have verbally declared to give up your original citizenship, if you travel to your homeland, you may still be seen as a citizen there.

Busy as usual... except for right now, where I'm busy trying to figure out women during my vacation in Berlin

There may be different nationalities and races but one thing always remains the same: the mystery of women.

Enjoy your vacation! I was supposed to visit Germany to visit an old roommate on my Europe trip but I underestimated how quickly med schools would get back to me after secondary apps.

One of the kids in the family got her MD from Stanford, 2 got theirs from College of Osteopathic of Medicine in Pomona since they worked odd jobs in between instead of going straight up like the other. They all earn the same $$$$ though

How does one go about passport? Sure I still have my birth certificate to show for, but what would happen at the expiry date of the passport?

You should have plenty of experience by now, after being busy working on keep the wooden stove warm

I think each situation is different, qhn. For my german passport, I had to make sure I had all the documentation that showed my father was german at the time of my birth (a requisite for my citizenship). My Canadian citizenship had absolutely nothing to do with it; I was proving that I was german, not that I wasn't Canadian. I just went to the german embassy in Toronto with my papers.

Definitely read up on other cases that match yours to see what they had to deal with...

edit: at the end of the passport, you probably have to just bring in all the paperwork again. I'll tell you in 10 years, when my german one expires lol

Since I am not a legal expert take in stride but here I go. qhn you and I might have trouble or impossible to get dual citizenship. I have two cousins who have British/Canadian/US citizenship.

How? Born in England to my uncle/British and my aunt/US. Canada and Britain allow Dual between those two. Loophole but not really. My cousins are US by birth so they did/do not have to renounce anything they are. A naturalized US citizen I believe needs to renounce. By the way my cousins are in Canada have never lived in the US and likely never will.

Anyway regardless of the why or how I have two cousins with tri and passports to prove. Kinda funny. You come into the States you show a US passport you go back to Canada you show Canadian, Britain show British. Anywhere else roll the dice.

Edit: qhn I think we can get dual but it depends on the country we want to do. I also think Canadian/US might be possible but not sure. Gie me time and I will way over research. Got more cousins I must think.

Sure, let's count all the cousins and we can all be citizens of the world

Wraith nice to meet you. Good luck with your interviews. I have tried to hold down the fort since you last posted. Not always doing that well.

If qhn is talking about DO's he is correct. But????????????? While I don't understand it I have trouble with that entire "balance" thing or always a "fundamental" cause? Last DO I went to recommended 1000mg Ibuprofens and physical therapy. I blew it off for a couple days then went there and tried said I can't do. Turns out when he got the results. Fracture tibia no ACL cartilage damage. No more Physical therapy. ACL transplant clean up the meniscus. Then PT. My coworkers do not like they are less inclined to prescribe narcotics but I know my coworkers just want narcotics.

Hang in there if you got that many interviews bound to land one.

Nice to meet you too. Haha, you've been doing an excellent job since I've been MIA.

DO's certainly have a different outlook than traditional MD's. IMO, they deserve more pub than they've been getting in the public's eye and academic community. Around here anyways, DO's are a lot fewer than MD's.

Thanks man. Yea, I've been told statistically I should've had about 5-6 acceptances by now from my pre-med and med student friends. It's just been mind-boggling since my interviews were huge strengths (helped land a lot of jobs at medical research labs anyways). Got a few I haven't heard from so hopefully they're the 5.

That's true. But the former degree tends to thrill the significant other's parents (at least those who aren't really in the know) into submission a bit more in my experience.

I've got a couple of friends who went the DO route. I'd say they're learning the same and having a better time than the MD students. Speakin of Stanford, I gave them a pass this year from my football curse (they won for the 1st time in 4 years) but it's back on.
