Yep - and they need to stop it from spreading - meaning the first responders, the ones that would go in and start the process of sealing the reactor(s) will die.

They need better fail-safes for these things... something that can not be overridden or fail on it's own. Maybe something gravity-controlled, that way it will ALWAYS work.

Good afternoon, DRT. I did a full body workout this afternoon. No rain here yet. Overcast skies.

We can only prepare for so much. Guessing mother nature works is a futile task. Gravity controlled would be a moot point if the earth underneath it gives way.

It is terrible. I don't think those facilitys should have been built in the first place. That area is known for earthquakes.

Thanks, not watching the whole game. We will take advantage of the weather today. The game is being recorded. I also get updates on my phone.

oddly enough the problem was not due to the earthquake, but rather the flood damage that interupted the the back up power to the reactors cooling systems.

The cores did shut down as designed from the quake.
but even powered down the reactor core is still at 5000 degrees and requires constant cooling or else the water boils off, and then things get real bad.

Good late evening, DRT. We had a nice breakfast style dinner, and a nice visit with my wife's sister's family this evening.
