but if you don't like your XPS2, or dell in general, and have gone with another company..then why would we? Just because "you don't" have a DELL? Of course not.....it's when people talk with fighting words, or make derogatory comments towards others that causes negatives..not the mere fact that you hate your DELL, you are not the only one believe me!

Sure, I'll take negative rep, doesn't really matter much to me. I'm pretty sure my house won't burn down, my wife won't leave me, I won't lose my job, I won't get a brain tumor, my truck won't get repossesed, and I won't lose all my hair if I don't have positive rep.

I was paying attention to the rep of people's responses to my questions, giving a little more cred to the answer's from those with higher rep, until I saw this thread. The rep system is for giving someone credit for coming up with a good solution to a problem, or a good answer to a question right? I've seen hundreds, probably thousands, of rep points handed out in this thread and not a single post/comment/or reply that was helpful or relevent. I know that this thread is just to "make up" for negative rep recieved from posting opinions in other manufacturers forums, but I think it's gone a little too far.

Just another opinion... let the newbie bashing begin.

Is that still true? I have over 100 posts, but I can't give out reps...

nate, this thread isnt for giving rep for advide, its just a place to hang out, chat, and hand out rep. All of the people in this thread are people who regularly post on help topics, and hell, ive gotten alot of rep hits for helping people. the problem is your rep realy isnt going to go up becuse the majority of people needing help have under 100 posts, so there rep doesnt do much. So in short, people with alot of rep really get it from rep threads like this one and the ones in off-topic. Were not trying to cheat the system or anything, just trying to have a little fun.

Nate, you're comment of "let the newbie bashing begin" makes it seem as if you're EXPECTING a flame war......too bad you're not gonna get one since we're here to spread positives and not negatives (with certain exceptions of course).....

However, your response was your personal opinion, and well written with no derogatory remarks or uncalled for comments direct toward any one individual, and I see no reason why anyone would want to neg rep you for having a different opinion of the "rep system". This issue of "abusing" the system has come up time and time again, sometimes leading to bashing and flame wars, so it's nothing new. But hopefully this will not become another one in the ruff, since there seems to be a split of opinion, and that's all, nothing more ....

Also, one point of clarification..this thread is not a "rep shelter" where we try to heal those who have received numerous negative's and are hoping for us to rep them back into positive. Although there are a few people who come in here asking us to do this, that is not what the this thread is about. A lot of us, who have been posting here for months, are just here to hang out and spread the reps, and oru intent is not to try to "boost" anyone back up after being in the negative ..
