i thought one of the high end companies like Merc or Lexus had a diesel SUV ?

That makes sense, even the "gas" in CA has been modified to suit the CA emission standards and there is a "summer" or "winter" blend of it...thats why our "gas" cost more than other states...

c/gas/s/gas/petrol/g for all brits and aussies...

Several manufactures have diesel engines available in europe.
There might be others but I know that VW has a V10 diesel version of the its SUV avalialbe in the US.
You cant get it in california untill the new low sulfer version of Diesel is available, possiblely some time in 2006.

Which emissions are those? Diesel engines have lower CO2 emissions than petrol engines, my big 1.9 litre diesel engine has lower emissions than a little 1.2 litre petrol engine.
