WoW Question

Everytime I play WoW it seems to stutter after I am just standing for a second and then start to move. Do you think it is because I have only 512 MB Ram? I am beginning to think it might be the processor shifting from 800mhz to 1.86 ghz, which causes it. Anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem??

Thanks

I would put most if not all of that on your ram. I play WoW a lot and assume my processor steps about the same as yours and have never had a problem. I might suggest a good ol ram upgrade.

That used to happen to me, too, when I had 512-MB. Upgrade to 1-GB or more and WoW should run better.

Can you max out the settings? Yeah when I played BF2 it was unbearable

Yes, I have the settings maxed.

Is 2 GB's excessive?

I had this same problem with my original 60GB drive and 1GB of RAM. I went to 2GB and the 100GB seagate at the same time and the problem dissapeared completely. I credit the ram more than the HD. Lappy HDs are VERY slow when compared to desktop drives. Any paging will be noticed in a game like WoW. 2GB pretty much eliminates that I believe.

Do make sure you have the usual culprits covered though. No running backgroup progs. Minimal startup. Defrag HD. Drivers up to date. Yada yada yada.

RAM is like money. You can never have to much and the more the better.

Every time I enter the world, it does this to me in the first few seconds as I start moving. If I just spin around once, I think it caches all of the data it needs and it never "stutters" again. I have 2 GB of RAM.

read the release notes for 77.72 above, one of the fixes for the 6800 Ultra was stuttering in WoW

I do not have the Ultra just the regular one on the I9300.

It's your ram. Upgrade to at least 1 Gig.

Hi All,
I play WoW on the Wisperwind Server and as you can see I have maxed out the RAM (Signature--2GB) and I play with maxed out settings with no problems. I don’t let the CPU step down---I keep it at the 2GHz setting--always play with it plugged to a wall socket (Power). The only hassle I have is lag but that has nothing to do with your system but with the amount of folks online and how hard the server is working. So the RAM was a great upgrade for gaming online.
