adware help - Page 2

By the way, something I thought about while I was at class this morning. If you have any foolish toolbars (ie Yahoo toolbar, iwon toolbar, etc.) those are BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) as well. So if you want to keep those, for whatever reason that I just don't understand - then omit clicking on those when fixing the checked items. Then again, if you want to get rid of them, this is how.

BHO - Browser Helper Objects ... Kind of a joke, isn't it. This is where Microsoft really has it wrong. Get Firefox, once you learn how to use it, you won't regret it.

Then run 'hijackthis' . This will show you all the startup processes (where you might find more spyware software installed) and all of the BHOs that have been installed on your system. The BHOs are the browser hijacks...check each one of them and click 'fix selected' - they should clean out and once you restart your computer you should be done.

Oh, and since you can't find hijackthis...go here.

I got crap like that all the time on IE, then I got Firefox.

Hope this fixes stuff. Let me know. And in the future, use Firefox.

Take care.
Wow! My search engines work!! It took like 2 seconds to scan and delete everything! On top of that I found other fishy files in the scan, actually a LOT. Thanks, I can now rest in peace.

Hahahahaha...

That was hilarious. Well, I am glad that everything worked out for you. Hijackthis is a really small (200kb), but immensely powerful tool. I hope that others can benefit form this knowledge as well.

Take care all.
