i8600 and Battlefield 2

Thread Starter
I just purchased Battlefield 2 and it's telling me my NVIDIA drivers are too old. I checked with Dell's website and they haven't offered new video drivers for a long time -- so I began checking other sources.

NVIDIA.com 's program said "cannot find drivers compatable with your hardware"..

LaptopVideo2Go.com had some drivers (I've never tried 3rd party before, maybe I did something wrong) -- but the versions I tried said the same thing.

I guess my question here is, what driver is my best option for gameplay in general, and has anyone got Battlefield 2 to work on an 8600 yet? (If so, how?)

*EDIT Sorry I left out, it's a geforce fx5650 card, 128mb.

Have you tried the Omega drivers? ( www.omegadrivers.net ) I am waiting for my friend to bring in BF2, and am going to give it a shot. I have the MR9600 Pro Turbo though, not he nVidia.

Use the drivers that came on the bf2 cd, if they are not on there then they are included with the demo for sure. Its a much higher version than what nvidia has on there website.

Did you also download the modified INF for the drivers you chose? The drivers do not install on laptop video cards without the modified INF.

I am currently using latest WHCP driver version 67.42 . I have got it through Windows Update. This one is not the most recent, but at least it is WHCP, so windows won't give you a warning.
If you want THE latest driver, go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
and download 77.62 (from their forum). It won't work as is, you need to download modified INF also.
