Please advise - Memory Keys and other questions

Is it worth it to get a memory key or two for the 700m? How much in the way of general word processing can the 64 and the 128 hold?

Also, what (in your own opinions) is the best anti-virus-type software out there? I have used Norton System Works before with anti-virus and it wasn't bad, but I'm afraid that I'm not that up to date on everything that is available and/or necessary these days.

I was going to just order one of the router's from Dell - is the D-Link DI-624 108Mbps $21 better than the 2350 router?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to fit several novels into 64MB. Whether it's worth it or not is really your decision. I have a 1GB thumbdrive I can't live without, but it's advantageous to my line of work.

I mostly only deal in commercial antivirus software, but I'm a huge fan of Trend Micro's software. The commercial version includes antispyware in addition to regular antivirus, I'm not sure about the personal version (PC-Cillin). In almost every facility I've replaced Symantec with Trend Micro, it immediately removes at least a few viruses that Symantec never caught. It also uses less drive space and has a noticeably lower impact on system performance. Whether or not it's the "best" is certainly open to debate, but I back their products 100%.

I don't know if you'll be lucky enough to find someone who's used both the DI-624 and the 2350 so you can get an honest answer, but I've always been a huge fan of D-Link products. Every one I've ever installed has been plug-in, configure, and forget. I have a D-Link router of my own that have been up and untouched for two years except for power outages, and several at customer sites that are working toward the same track record. I've not used the exact Dell router you mentioned, but my experience with Dell network equipment has produced mixed results. I've had some that go in fine and never need touching, others I've had replaced under warranty several times until I finally got fed up with them and replaced with a competing product. Dell network equipment does seem to be getting better. All that said, I'm not sure that you'll be able to utilize the 108MBps capability of the D-Link router with non-D-Link WNICs.

As Andevian said, that's up to you, but save yourself some money and don't buy one from Dell. Newegg.com sells them for much less.

I use Avast! simply because it's free. I don't particularly care for the version of McAfee that Dell includes (it's way too intrusive), but I'm okay with Symantec. Just my opinions.

I also use D-Link and think they are great. I haven't used the other one. Again, though, make sure you shop around, as Dell does not usually offer the best price on these, either.
