The installation of your own memory will NOT void the warranty, HOWEVER, should your installed memory cause any sort of system damage the warranty would be voided.

I read somewhere that the Z71v has a sticker over one of the RAM ports that prevented user memory upgrading. This is this true for the Istnc systems including the new Z70?

The additional memory install for the Z71V is located under the keyboard, so the removal of the bottom panel isnt required, the same goes for the Z70V

That's good to know. Out of curiousity how many Refresh's is ISTNC going to be selling? Also, I read that the ship date will be late July/early August?

Does the new X700 come with a weight increase for the Z70V?

Right now with the original X600 card the laptop with battery weight's in around 6.0lb. I would imagine with the X700, DVI output and bluetooth option, the thing will get a little heavier.

Anybody with an educated guess or even exact specs?

Thanks.

Seeing as how Rick ignored about 5 Qs regarding the ram on the x700, I'm going to assume it's 64mb, hmm?
Actually I don't think he knows yet.
Well, he should difinitely say that he doesn't know instead of avoiding the question.

The x700 is the main selling point for this item, and there are people buying this up without knowing what they need to know.

Any ideas of how many preorders are left?
it's 128mb, not 64
Indeed, quite a few questions have been ignored in this topic.
hmm, Ok it says 128mb on the order form now.

I could swear it wasn't specified when I checked last time.

ignore my rant
It really wasn't specified, until now.
even if it was 64 i'd still get it :P
Can we buy this as a barebone from ISTNC with just the bluetooth, wireless card and dvd writter? or do you have to buy the cpu memory and hdd too?

I will most likely get badly flamed for this, but it needs to be said.

It is absolutely beyond me how someone can leak info on specs that are not 100% carved in stone, hypening everybody up to attrack customers and then not deliver. Putting specs on a reseller webpage and make customers believe they can actually order the laptop with the options is outright wrong.

How is it that from the various resellers out there only one claims he/she knows all the specs and is able to deliver? Why is there nothing on ASUS's webpage, not even a news flash or mentioning of the new features?

Oh, BTW I am not upset because I ended up getting the old version with the X600. It's because someone else is trying to make a quick buck and tries to take advantage of the fact that we are naive and believe everything we get put in front. The place I will order from has been straight with me and I will be loyal to them.

ISTNC has been upstanding so far from the reviews I've seen.

Although it is strange that only they are selling this. It seems PROportable has been ASUS's preferred reseller. (not to say anyone's better.. just my observation )

The ASUS website updates very slowly...it doesn't move at the same speed that ASUS Taiwan progresses.

And yet after all this rant, you're getting the Z70V refresh too (in your sig)
