Battlefield 2 settings for 9100 with 9800

Currently I'm running 1024 x 768 with the default custom settings, only turning off the shadows. Game runs fine on the ground but when I get up in the air certain maps give me "hiccups". Basically it stutters and freezes here and there for a second or 2... very annoying.

Also I have the audigy 2 soundcard, and I have the audio set to hardware and low quality. Doesn't seem to have helped.

Any tweaks you guys are running to make this look good and run flawless?

Its not got much to do with the res but rather a lot to do with the map still loading up I believe. The game is setup so it only loads when it needs to load certain areas...so there will be hiccups. If you have 2 gigs of memory you will be fine. Heck I have played the game @ 1600 x 1200 with medium quality with only some very slight lag. This is non oclocked btw on a 9800

Bah forgot the first rule of asking for advise, posting my specs

9100 / 3.2ghz / 1gig of ram / 9800 256 / 60 gig 7200 rpm drive.

I play everything on high except shadows and light on medium and 1024x768 res. There are a few hiccups every now and then but nothing major.

I've got a 3.2 GHz proc, 512MB ram, MR9800, and a 7200rpm 60 gig Hitatchi.

Update: With the modded 9800 I run everything on high 1024x768 and get 60-80 fps. I could turn on AA but my damn 512MB of ram is bottlenecking me. OCed, I have no clue how nicely the card'll perform.

On the demo, I run medium-high (low shadows, low lights, high textures on both people and objects) at 1600x1200 w/ 2xAA and get 30 fps which is all I need in that game.

9800 OC to 455/400
1 gig

Not (yet) modded

Yeah u found the game is quite playable @ 1600 res with medium everything....and no oclock.

I play @ 1600 res with medium... what I also found out, there is a visibility setting where you decide how far you can see, I lowered it @ 75%. Set @ 100% I had too much lag.

No AA and No AF.

The only problem I have is, it's take for ever to load a new map....

I whish I could increase the resolution

I would recomend changing the visability back to 100% if I were you. Setting it to less than that will give you a serious handicap against most everyone else. If I have mine set to 100% I can see you only have 3/4th's the sight distance as I do. Just my 2 cents.

Well unless you only use the sniper kit, I agree.. but I don't I'm more into close range combat And what good will it do to me to see someone but not being able to react fast enough (because of the "lag") to shoot him...

I understand what you are saying, I tried it and I'm better the way it is right now...I don't need to see the other end of the map when most of the action is close range...

(I'm more a supply/medic/special force kit player)

Thanks for the tip anyway...

Well damn. I've been playing at 1024x768 this whole time, and I kick it up to 1600x1200 no problem, and man does it look great.

Damn SXGA monitor I have. It only supports 1680x1050 so no 1600x1200 for me
