I600d vs 600m

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a laptop for college. I decided after one year that i should be in the library working more often during school, and after it, and i need a cheap computer to do that. I have a gaming rig + 20.1 inch ultraship dell lcd. I would like to have at least a 14inch notebook, like the 600m. However i like the expanded grapichs capability and larger screen on the 6000. How heavy is the 6000 to carry around, at only 6.6 lbs i would think its not that heavy, but ive never owned a laptop before. I would probably take the bus back and forth from my apartment to the library since well my bike riding skills are more than lacking. Any opinions on either. I am looking for soemthing with 3+ hours of battery, and would get the largest battery i could at build time. Thanks.

if your gonna carry it around alot.. i'd suggest going with the 600m since its lighter. You could also wait until dell releases a new laptop to replace the 600m since its old. Also.. since you do have that gaming rig, then you wouldn't need the x300 right? it's not a high end card anyway. I own a i6000d and i carry it around ocassionaly. When i do have to walk a long distance, it does start feeling heavier. I'm 120 pounds and 5'6'' so I'm not someone you would consider buff anyway. Hope that helps.

If you can wait until the end of the year, the replacement for the 600m is supposed to come. I would get the 600m if you had to buy now, though. Since you already have a gaming rig, it won't matter that much about the gaming abilities, but I've heard that the 600m doesn't lack in that department, as far as a 64MB card goes, anyway.
