T42 Touchpad question.

Thread Starter
Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a T42 Thinkpad. Does the T42 use a Synaptics touchpad? If so does it support the coasting feature? I had a Dell Inspiron 4000 that had the Synaptics Touchpad and loved it. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 600M with the ALPS touchpad and it stinks "worst touchpad ever". Going on eBay as soon as I get a new laptop.

To be honest I did not hear of coasting before and googled it. Yes with the IBM touchpad you can also define scrolling and/or automated continous movement if you touch the borders of the touchpad.
But in general learn to use the trackpoint (the red nipple) it is MUCH better!!!

No way...I hate the red nipple! Just not used to it I guess...

There's more than one style Personally, I favor the cat's paw over the nipple/eraser head.

Remember you can always customize how sensitive the red pointing stick is, etc. if you're not comfortable with it.

Not all red nipples...just some...some red nipples are more equal than others.
