Okay, after much lusting, i finally got to upgrade my laptop. From a 5660 to the 5680.
So, this morning i went down the Sager Headquarters. Yup, the oifficial one thats on the site.
When i first arrived, i was greeted and sent to a room in the back where they had all these flyers, and posters of the past sagernotebooks. The guy that spoke with me answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful and polite. I got a phone call before i even got back home in regards to an issue that he needed to confirm. Thats prompt. And this is Sager, not even Pctorqe.
I truly didnt expect that much coolness considering it wasnt pctorque.
So, anyways it was here where i truly saw the 8xxx, some dude brought his in for service and man...that thing is huge. That sums up desktop replacement "fo-sure". I mean, that thing is enormus!!
And its big enought to fit everything you would need.
But, it is a desktop replacement. Period. No distputes here at all.
Anyway, they will ship it out to me. the only thing is that tax was sixyt bucks!!!!
WTF???
California sux. period. Californians can have California. ech....anyway the guy was really cool about everything, and gave me some sager stickers..heh...
All in all, it was a painless transaction and they were very helpful. Language barrier? Only if your an arrogant Amrerican, apple pie, things need to be one way, cuz im right and youre wrong for being different fool. Then yea. Other than that, i had a really cool time.
Although i thought it would be a bigger place though. It was relatively small. Not tiny, but smaller than i thought.

You think California sucks?

Try livin' in Manhattan. I am willing to wager that I pay a great deal more in state and sale taxes than you; though, I don't have The Terminator... or should I say... "Govenator"

Cheers.

well...

the reception area was pretty small. a comparison would be...hmmm.....i cant think of anything at the moment. will post when i can. i can tell you that the back was the whole production palace. i saw it through a window which lead to the production area. and this, dear folks is where i believe they are put together. This was quite larger. Heck, it was a warehouse after all. I almost missed the front door cuz they didnt have a huge sign out front. It was small, but i found it nonetheless. Ill see if i can come up with a comperable size. And ill tell you about my upgrade experience once i get my laptop back...

Well, PCTorque has to rely on Sager for a lot of stuff. PCT takes orders, but Sager assembles and ships the machines. It's Sager that handles the warranty work. So on and so forth.

So all the praise that gets heaped on PCTorque around here also reflects well on Sager - if Sager weren't also great, there's no way PCT could do the great job they do.

Need to email SAGER to get some stickers. I think a lot of forum members might like having those. Can you post a picture. Heck, run it through a scanner if you have to.

Heh, you're just in the wrong area. Get out of the "urbanized/suburbanized" areas. There's a LOT of state to California.

PM me if you're ever heading up north to San Luis Obispo - I'll show you how awesome this state is, tax/liberalism/terminator and all! We really are our own country (complete with 18 different languages)...

been here for like seventeen years...hollywood, San diego, Riverside, (la Jolla is the only place i do actually like) Santalbarbra, LA, but MOST people dont live on the coast. And ive been to Germany, England, Arizona, NewMexico, Texas, Hawaii, Georgia, Tenessee, Missisippi, Alabama, Lousiana, Deleware, Okinawa Japan...so its not a thing of never been out anywhere. I just hate it here. Buuut...ill give you a pm if i go that way. Maybe it can compare to La Jolla (which, from what ive seen is a very ritzy area)

New York State has some of the highest taxest in the US, and if you're in the city, you get to tack on city tax too, as was mentioned.

At least in California, you get decent weather to go with your tax bill. We get terrorists and West Nile virus.

Uh, no, SLO is not quite La Jolla. A nice place, at least it used to be 30 years ago. If you like climbing, try the sisters, not particularly tough but some very nice views and some interesting environments. Montana De Oro or Lopez Canyon are nice. Poly Canyon is always interesting. But probably the best thing is its the southern entrance to Big Sur. Don't forget the death place of James Dean.

And remember, before you give up on the whole state, by the time you get to SLO, you're still less than a third of the way north. I have to admit, not many places have something California doesn't have at least something similar and there's a whole lot of stuff nowhere else has ever thought of.

You want different, try Santa Cruz!!!

As for the stickers, are you talking about those little medalions on the top of machine, the back of the LCD panel? About 1-1/2" x 3/8"?
