Battlefield 2 Demo / Area51m 5500

I have tried to play the Battlefield 2 Demo without luck. I have the 77.62 drivers and each time I try to launch the demo, the screen goes black as if it was loading the game and within 5 seconds, I go back to the desktop without any error message. I have googled and looked at the official forums and they say that either (1) the drivers are outdated (not my case as BF2 requires 77.30 drivers), or (2) the video card is not supported. My video card is a Nvidia Geforce FX Go5700. Any idea? I really wanted to try this game out before buying it.

Don't know about the DEMO since I've never loaded it or played it but the regular Battlefield 2 plays flawlessly on my 5500 (laptop).
The only thing driving me nuts is the stupid (ranked)server LAG!!!

i too cannot get the demo to work. ive got the go6800 and anytime i try to install new drivers it gives me an error.

same problem

hey , i have the same problem
allthough i have an HP paviilion zd8000 with ati x600 pci card 256 mb ram

ive looked under EA SUPPORT for that matter and found that it has somthing to do with the anistropic filtering .. anti aliasing and all that crap.
i got mine to show me the splash screen and then it crashes the computer entierly.

i think thats what you get when you download demo's...

though ea are a serious company ..

well let me tell you what, the demo didn't work for me and I have my ati x850 pe...it crashed on me twice in a row...so I said "FUDGE IT" then I got the game, although I havent' yet installed it, I do know that the ati cards are having problems with the full version. Some crashes and wierd lines occur. As far as the Nvidia cards go, they have no problem. Makes me wish sometimes.(not always cuz I love ATI) that I got an Nvidia card in my laptop.

i have the x850xt and no problems what so ever i actually have more problems with my go6800 making shadows right than my x850
