EverQuest II -Laggy-

Well, I was doing the EQ Trial last night and set it to the highest settings possible. The gamplay was fine and after awhile I logged off. About half an hour later I logged back in to check something and noticed I couldnt hardly move. There was so much video lag. It was like my card couldnt handle it...

I went into options and changed something like draw detail distance but had to set it all the way down to -1 to get it to stop lagging. I played with it for awhile last night trying to get it back to the way it was and still play right but it just wouldnt. I even tried changings the drivers around to find it not helping at all.

Does anyone know why I might be having the problem I am? I want to set everything to the highest and FIGURED with the my system specs I could :/

Thanks

With everything on highest NO system today can run this game well. Even the new 7800 GTX cards can't do it.

The complex vertex shader distance is what makes everyone have shiny armor and look really cool, changing that value to -1 or something else fairly low will give you the single biggest change in FPS.

Wow, ok. It's kinda funny though cause I was playing on everything maxed last night fine but today I cant to anything.

Oh well, will tweak things a bit down. Thank for the info

Everything on highest and smooth gameplay?
Indeed... I've read that no system can handle the highest settings with that game yet.
Even the next gen GPU.
I think this is the first game that actually pushed the limits when it comes to making software that will be future proof due to the fact that the highest settings won't budge on any system right now!

Follow this guide to smooth gameplay: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/e...&no_redir=true

Well, I just realized that the reason I was prolly able to play on all maxed settings last night fine was because I was on around 3am. I was in the trial area and there was no one there pretty much.

Maybe thats why.

I'll take screen shots of my settings on my XPS G2. I get 30-50 in most zones and 14-15 fps in raids/cities.

Turn off shadows and set the advanced vertex shader to -1 and you will get like +20fps over whatever other settings you used.

You are correct about the effects of network latency. I was in the basic trade instance and was lagging. I stepped up to my specialty instance(the zone is exactly the same, but instead of 30 people, there were 2) and my FPS doubled. Amazing. But that was last year, I am WoWing it now
