Fans spinning all the time

I know people are having some problems with overheating, and I'm glad my fans are spinning, but it seems they are spinning almost all the time, and it gets quite loud. I've noticed even with a simple task...like running a screensaver or just playing winamp will cause the fans to be rather loud. Playing Halo or other games is one thing, but I'm not sure what to think about when they spin almost 24/7. Anyone have any ideas about this kind of thing?

Also I've noticed when I close my lid at night and leave the computer hot, the plastic parts become very hot when I open it next morning. I don't have anything other than a screensaver. Is this something odd or something that can be stopped?

You may be able to try different power settings in the control panel though I haven't confirmed it will change the fans... the only thing would be a different bios depending on which version you have. Also, blow the vents out with compressed air to aid efficiency.

I think it's the M10... that 9600 doesn't seem to like being mobile. Either that or the video cooling solution isn't enough to adequately cool the video and the memory and the processor.

Is it me, or do 8890's have more heating issues than 8887's and 8886's? Plus, I'm willing to bet that the cooling system hasn't improved much (if at all) over the older 888x's... just a theory...

Please tell me I'm wrong,

I don't think I'd want to turn the fans off. It gets really hot in the morning when I wake up. I'm not sure if they do turn off when i'm sleeping but I'll look for that. If i turn my harddrives off after maybe an hour would you think that would do anything? I was also playing Jedi Academy and the computer just..shut down. It wasn;t scorching hot though so perhaps it was a software glitch and the same day it just went into a blue screen, not a BSOD but a blue screen and I had to hard reboot. I'm worried about this computer blowing up hehe.

Fans just working now and then

You must have reasons to run the system 24/7!?

1. My keyboard gets fairly warm, so I guess some of the heat escapes that way. If you close the lid, you may well block optimal cooling.

2. Besides that I lifted my system at the back with 1,5 inch, by putti some stuff under the feet; to increase air circulation. I believe this helps!?

I got the nexus passive cooler you can read about in this thread

My fans run half as much as they did before.

Hmm I may just have a look at that cooler sometime later. If only I could keep my window open it's starting to get cool up in Boston, I'm sure that would help my laptop

EDIT: Would having the computer in standby overnight help make it less hot? I think I left it on overnight one time and it was just as hot but I can't really remember.
