Well,I noticed this the first night when i put her to bed...I left it on because I was downloading something...I turned off my light and hopped into bed...I looked at my computer and i could see the light through the space in it...I thought I didnt close it but i got up and it was closed but the LCD was on.I opened it and closed it real quick and it turned off.The next day (today) It happened about 2 out of 3 times I closed it.Is this a defect or something?

Thanks,Matt

I got my XPS last night and I notice the same thing. I looked between the screen and keyboard when it was closed and the screen was still on. I went tot the QuickSet thinking that it was not set right, but it was on standby so I dunno....?

There's an option in Quickset where you can make it not go on standby when you close the lid. Just make sure this isn't selected, and maybe just check your power profile just to be sure that it'll turn the LCD screen off. If this doesn't work...umm...ionno ^_^

Mine does that too

Mine will come on after I close the lid too. I would love to find a solution!

I don't know about you guys, but I know my lid sensor is slightly faulty. When I close the lid sometimes, the light will turn back on after a few seconds. I would then just open and close it again, and that would fix it. Also, if I press the lid at certain places while it shut, the light would turn on =(

I beleive the machine is delivered with this defect as default.

yup, I got the same problem. I'll close my lappy when I go to sleep and it will shut down. Then several minutes later as I'm half asleep I'll hear it turn on again (HD and fans picking up). I'll open the screen and shut it again and it'll be fine, but if I don't notice it the battery will be dead by dawn.

Its not the audioport!...My bad...It is my external laptop mouse...I guess i was bumping it when i was messing around with the audio port...When i move the mouse the lcd turns on.When i press the Multimedia buttons when it is closed, the light also turns on...Guess its not the laptops fault.
