acer warranty?

I'm interested in getting an acer laptop, but want to know more about the warranty.
1: the machine comes with a 1 yr warranty from acer, can it be upgraded to 3 or 4 years after purchase?

2: if i get an acer america machine will the warrany cover it overseas (ie australia and new zealind) and will be able to get warranty repair done overseas, or will it need to be returned to usa?

3: do they offer accidental damage protection?

i can't find any of this on their website.

thanks,
Jeff

I had the same questions. In the case of the Ferrari, it comes with a 1-year standard warranty and a 1-year international travelers warranty. You can purchase an extension on the standard warranty to add 2 more years. You can alternatively purchase a 3-year total protection warranty which covers accidental damage. Either one, you have to add within 15-days of puchase of the laptop. See here for descriptions:

See here for me answering my own question :

You can purchase the 2-year extention here:
http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=198077

And the 3-year total protection here:

There may be other cheaper places. Check with Acer on what warranty extentions are available for the laptop you want.

The information on the 2 year extension says, "COMPUTER MUST BE MAILED IN OR CARRIED IN TO A ACER OR ACER AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER".

Does anyone know if there's a list of Acer Authorized Repair Centers online somewhere? So far I haven't been able to find such a list at Acer's site.

With my Toshiba laptop I can actually take my computer to a computer repair shop just up the street from where I live. Although it is an independent store, it is authorized by Toshiba to do warranty repairs.

I'm wondering if similar situation exists for Acer? Or, in the United States, do Acer laptops have to be sent to their location in California?

It makes a big difference in terms of whether I consider buying an extended warranty to be worthwhile or not.

Call around to your local computer shops, one of them is bound to be a retailer. I know their are 3 of them in my town.

aaaack!!!
quote from Acer International Travelers Warranty

Who may claim under the Acer ITW?
During the term (as defined below) of the Acer ITW, only “bona fide travelers” who are in possession of a copy of the original sales invoice of the notebook may bring claims under this Acer ITW. For the purpose of the Acer ITW, a "bona fide traveler” is a person temporarily (for a consecutive time period of up three months) present outside the territorial scope of the Local Warranty covering the respective notebook without the intention of establishing even a temporary residence or domicile. Acer's ITW Service Centers may require reasonable proof of residency to verify the bona fide traveler status of any claimant. Customers establishing a temporary residence without the geographic area of validity of the Local Warranty covering their notebook are encouraged to enter into a service agreement with a local Acer representative.

The number below will not let you speak to someone..  They want your SNID #, and if its out of warranty, they will not give you address of an authorized service center.. My credit card gives me an extra year, but I have no idea where to send as it must be Acer authorized.. Unbelievable..  Will never buy another Acer for this reason!!!!
