I was just thinking, what happens to the temperature of the system if you remove the battery and just run it on AC? That might reduce the heating problem.

So you undervolted yours with nice results, hmm, I'll had to try it too then.

Strange Species, thanks for the suggestion, but I'm ahead of you... My laptop has been running with just the AC and no battery in it from the day 3 actually...

Hello all!

As this was the only English forum in which the 4438 and 3238 were mentioned, I decided to hop in
Many of my doubts were answered in the entire thread but still I have a few suggestions. As the 3238 is very popular (planning to buy one), it would be great to open a 3238 thread, just my opinion. I would be thankful if someone could attach a photo or two of his/her 3238 and maybe even write a review?

For all of you who want to lower your voltages I suggest a great program called RightMark CPU Clock Utility. Give it a try

I guess you mean the M3438G with the 3238 ?
(edit: damn you Strange Species, you beat me to it while I was writing my response )

If you do, well, the M4438G pictures in this thread (and everywhere else in the internet as well) do look just the same as the M3438G would basically.
(not counting in the possibly different key layouts for different countries.)

If you mean you'd like some more pictures, I would take some from mine, if I only had a digital camera (must buy one soon...).
For review of the M3438G, the points mentioned in Belch review apply to it as well (with the exception of the talk about the WUXGA screen of course, as M3438G has WXGA+).

I have considered writing a review (or impressions maybe?) of the M3438G, but haven't yet got to that point coz I'm still a bit indifferent about some aspects in the lappy. I wonder whether my ramblings would be any interest to anyone as well...

I think it'd be really great if someone wrote an entire review of the M3438G (and started a new thread of it). I'm buying this notebook in a month or two and would really like to hear about this model more, mainly on how good the WXGA+ display is.

To be honest with you, I've read a whole lot of reviews on M3438G and my only problem currently is whether to get the one with PM750 or PM760/770. You see in my country of Finland, they haven't released the PM760 and PM770 versions yet and it may take 1-3 months more before they do. I really do need to buy a notebook soon so I'm not sure if I want to wait... (this notebook would be my only computer for at least 4 years). Of course the two reasons I might want a faster CPU is to add longetivity to this notebook and to get great FPS with AA and AF effects on in Half-Life 2.

BTW, I'm not an overclocker mainly because I don't much about it and the fact is that if you screw up the CPU from overclocking the warranty does not cover it. So overclocking PM750 is out of the question... period!

When I start to fall on my own when playing newer games, I get burned...

Had a yet another shutdown when playing Far Cry, enabling antialiasing seems to really drive the comp close to melting point...
(I don't have the patches to it yet however, not a fast enough connection to get them yet.)

I might just contact Fujitsu-Siemens about the overheating, seems like I can hit the 80 degrees mark without too much trouble with right settings and some gaming.

If I'd have the courage I would just open my lappy and take a look at the cooling solution (if there is one, I'm beginning to wonder).

There is a one tweak that should supposedly decrease the loading times on it at this page: http://www.tweakguides.com/Doom3_10.html

I've done it myself, but haven't really looked up whether it had some real effect or not.

Yeah, quite strange.

If I were you, I'd put some Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU and GPU but somehow I doubt this will help much if the laptop is as hot as you say.

You haven't tried RightMark CPU Clock Utility yet?

Got my 3438 yesterday with a 1 Gb stick as an extra. Have to say WOW. Far better than I was expecting. Obviously I haven't tested it much yet but my god the screen!!!! B E A Utiful. Pretty damn fast too for a 1,73ghz proc. Will be playing GTA SA tonight and will see how hot it gets just waiting for my wireless router now as the gimps at ccl sent me the non wireless version. Oh well.

Yes, i would like to know that too. I personaly think that it's only his laptop ? At least here in The Netherlands i don't here that much about overheating with a 3438.
