Review Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M4438G - Page 14

Do you feel the difference or is it just the numbers?

@RuptuRed I strongly suggest you use Prime 95 to check the memory and the overall stability of the system

I don't usually rest my hands on the laptop itself, at least not at the moment, so I don't notice a difference. My chair supports my arms

Unfortunately, I'm going to be sending the laptop back (replacing it with the same model), as it turns out the bottom half of the laptop is bent ever-so slightly

Hopefully it won't be long until I get another. It'll go back to PC World tomorrow, and another will probably be shipped to me in a couple of days. If all goes well, I'll take the pics and do the review when I get it back. I'm hoping (although it should be perfectly fine) that the screen will be as dead-pixel-less as the one I have now. As for right now, I'm ghosting the contents of the hard drive to a DVD or two.

How could that have happened? Really strange...

Can you please tell me which brand FDD are you using?
BTW, my spacebar is at slight angle too...

Strange Species, I'm really envious about your temps, you're overclocked ones are much better than my stocks...

Little visit in the world of Far Cry brings mine to 75 or more... do you have 2 HDs in yours? (could they really make that much heat??)
Just 1 HD. And the floppy disk drive? It's a Toshiba one. If you put a long ruler straight below the keyboard (e.g. inbetween the touchpad disable button and the touchpad itself), and put it across the laptop (left-right), is it straight?
Well, I can't really say that it would be bend... but regarding the spacebar, the right side is higher than the left side, how's yours?
Ha - i was right (unfortunatell ) The second HDD next to the gpu brings the temps up!!!! I was almost convinced to the m3438 but now Cum on ... the should put at lesast copper cooling inside not the aluminum chasis
Can sb cheer me up???? I knew it was to good to be true
post #268 of 579
Yeah, it looks like that sure

I could try to cheer you up... here's the banana guy!!
(ok, I know, that was pathetic... )

But cheer you up? How about me then? I own the damn thing!!! Who's gonna cheer me up??

ohh cum on - its not that bad U still have a cool and fast lappy
Nevertheless the heating problems are sooo unfair hmmmm ... mayby i'll get the one with only 1 HDD I've read the Dell forums and on the i9300 the idle temps for 6800 are at about 50!!! Stress=60-70 But Dell in europe means 2xM3438!!!! I'll hop in for 1HDD and i'll do the review
Ruptured - tell more about your experiance with m3438 Is it alright not considering the gpu temps ????
Maybe we (all who post in this thread) should arrange some kind of a chat were all who are interested in the Fujitsu M3438G/M4438G could talk all there is to talk about this laptop, were poor chaps like me who actually own the thing would try to answer questions...

Thanks for your cheer up try, BTW

Just thinking, with only 1 hard drive in the 3438/4438, would it be possible to move it to the second hard drive slot, or would it not boot like that? I'm not sure if that would help at all, but in theory it should reduce the amount of heat on the left-hand. Might add extra heat on the right though...
Oh, and another question: Do you think it's possible to apply Arctic Silver 5 to both the CPU and GPU?

Should work I'm sure about the desktop pc - but it should work in a laptop system too

Sure!!!! It will reduce the temps about 2-3C Nevertheless it is a time consuming work
post #275 of 579
Maybe even 5 but I'd do it, nontheless. Not sure about the HD...
Well, that might be worth it. Will it void the warranty though?

Forgot to answer this question

Yeah, it's like that. The right side is higher, or at least looks it. However, after taking the keyboard out, it's fine. When I put it back in again, it's at an angle. Odd, but I think the bend is related to it.
With that spacebar thingy you mean what's on this photo?
Yeah, that looks like it.
Ok, that's it, the jury's back... it's not a defect, it's a feature!! (M$ style)
(I could have lived without that one, though)
