Review Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M4438G - Page 16

This is what I got for my temperatures, with 1 hard drive. Note though that while it's GPU/CPU-intensive, it was only running for about 5 minutes:

I have 3438g with 2 hardrives and my temps are 50-60 depending on place where im at. In some places in full stress my comps temps are 50 (home) and other 60 (friends house)

Did you mean GPU temps?! When playing?! I just cant believe they could be unber 70 with the 2xHDDs model?!?!?! Can they?!
Well, like I've said, my temps reach about 80 degrees celsius after playing Far Cry for a while, no airflow blocked or anything.

BTW, dude, you might wanna try undervolting your CPU to get the temps at least a bit lower, I finally did that to my comp (results in sig, though no temp data yet...).

Also, what are your machine specs exactly, dude? (*everyone, just attach your machine specs to your sig so you don't need to be telling them all over again in every single post, saves time*)
[edit] eh, playerdude, just ignore the question, I must be blind or something... [edit]

I Have the same temps as Strange species, approx: 60 celcius unloaded and 68 celcius full load after 10 minutes

I have a question to all you M3438G/M4438G -owners: What updates or programs have you downloaded or got to your laptop (not counting the obvious Windows updates and such)? Obviously the biggest thing might be getting the newest Forceware. But other than that? I've heard people getting new drivers to WLAN and to Realtek (soundcard). Also, people have got programs such as DeadPixelBuddy and Centrino Hardware Control.

So please tell me what components or programs have you updated and what useful programs have you downloaded.

Also, of benchmarks: if I get 3DMARK05 for testing the 3D/gaming performance, what free benchmark program would you recommend to testing the system's overall performance?

Hello again all. Just thought I'd drop in.
Still happy with my 3438.Tempes never go above 80 (I am o/c the gpu a bit trying to find max). Seems as though everyone has managed to get one with a faster processor than me... ho hum
Everything pretty good so far EXCEPT wireless. Basically the thing keeps dropping the connection all the time and this is even with the router in the same room and it has line of site. Router is a netgear dg834g v2 is there anything special I need to be doing? how far away from a dect phone should it be to stop interferance?
Any advice would be appreciated.
I don't think I've had problems connecting to my router with it.

Also, apparently I'm getting my 3438 back on Saturday.
good news strange. Did you get it from PC world in the end? i.e did you get the 1.7 processor too?
Yeah, got the 1.73 GHz. I bought it last monday, but it turns out the base was bent. No idea why, everything else was perfect. My replacement is scheduled for Sat. I noticed the availability went down by one at the PC World business website, so maybe that was mine. Hopefully it'll come early (last time it was scheduled for Friday, but came on Wednesday).

RAID off

Hello all

I am not yet a M3438G owner but I plan to be during the next month. Hopefully F-S will fix some possible bugs of this model until then.

I have a suggestion for you who have very high temps on your laptop.
As you all know the 2 HDD model has the RAID feature (RAID 0/1/off).
Try setting the RAID off so that each hard disk is used only when needed.
With the RAID (0/1) feature on the HDDs operate almost simultaneously so the heat produced is also increased dramatically (maybe doubled).
I hope this work. If I am wrong please forgive me because as I¢ve said above
I haven't yet bought the laptop to test this.

Some quick reference about RAID:

Are you guys quoting GPU temperatures, or CPU, or hard-drives, or what?

Lastly, does anyone know if the chipset is Yonah-ready? (the single core version)

Thanks
I'm quoting the GPU temps, not sure about everyone else. No idea about Yonah either.

Ah, good. What are your system/CPU and harddisk temps like, then?
No idea, I didn't check when I had the laptop. It's in the process of being replaced at the moment, so I'll post all the temps I can (along with a full review) when I get it back.

What is the default setting in RAID when you buy the comp?
Hi.
I'm quite new in this forum so I'm writing here first time.
I've got my amilo m3438g from PC World UK about 3 months ago.I bought it with 1,73 Mhz ,512 Mb ddr2 and 60 gb hdd.
I bought a new one 1Gb ddr2 533 mhz memory and installed into that laptop and reinstalled system to Xp Pro.I've got a CD which included SATA-Raid support.Everything works fine.
I'm foreigner in Uk and speak German well so if you need any help about translating or helping with some kind of problems just write it down.

And by the way my space bar was little bit up on right corner too but I've allready fix it and now it's allready straight.

When you buy the lappy, the RAID isn't enabled. Temps that I have given about my comp are also without the RAID in use. Playerdude, do undervolt yours, it helps the temps somewhat (although yours are so high that common sense would suggest that there MUST be something wrong in your comp).

Mr. Titch, your temps on the other hand seem very low, do you have the RAID set up and have you done anything worth mentioning to your lappy to get the temps to that point?

Welcome to the forum golupo

Glad to hear everything's working well. How did you fix the spacebar?
