Review Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M4438G - Page 18

I can get the files, but not the automatic update.
I've got those files too.If you need them ,can to be send to email...
Using those new graphics files 78.10 . Works fine....

Do you mean that you get the files using Fujitsu-Siemens notebook or other brand notebook? I think the reason why I do not see any files is because I'm not using Fujitsu-Siemens notebook or something. If my firewall (or internet options) is too strict or something there should be a notification or something that 'this page cannot be opened completely'. Well, I'll just wait and try to access the download section using M3438G.

I don't have an Amilo x438 yet, still I have no problem getting the driver download list. Try accessing it through either of these two direct links:

http://download.fujitsu-siemens.com/....asp?idnr=3438
http://download.fujitsu-siemens.com/....asp?idnr=4438

BTW, you will get a blank page, but it should refresh automatically after a few seconds...

Hey all, I'm back Greetings to all new (proud ) 3438 owners

About the newest drivers- yep, I CAN indeed see the 78.10 on FS's support page (on my desktop nonFS by the way, firewall on).

@StrangeSpecies which drivers have you installed now? Would you care to try these 78.10? I'm also curious because of the fan speed...

@Golupo- is the fan still on after you go into silent mode (or whatever)?

One more thing, can one choose the partitions or are they predefined? Thnx

Is the fan loud, then?

Thanks man for those links. I see the driver list! Truly, thank you!

I've got the 80.40 drivers (modded desktop ones). I tried out the 78.10 drivers earlier today. Not sure about their performance, but I know that OC is disabled in that version. The menu is limited in comparison. Also, the OC settings (80.40) allow you to set the GPU fan to an always-on state (I assume only when using 3D apps though). In theory, you could keep the fan constantly on, and turn down the clock rates to the default non-overclocked rates, resulting in an overall cooler system. I'll try that out ASAP.

By the way, do any of you guys run your M4438G (or M3438G) without the battery inside? I did not know this until just now but apparently you can run your laptop without the battery inside if it is connected to the outlet. Also apparently if you always have the laptop connected to the outlet it is not wise to keep to battery inside.

So my question is, do you keep you batteries inside even though you have your laptops connected to the outlet?

According to the manual, you shouldn't work with the battery in if you're planning to use the AC for some time.

Is the lap stable on the desk with the battery out, by the way?

Can someone please tell me what is the state of partitions out of the box? Thanx

Can you see the powermizer options with the 78.10 drivers which you downloaded from fujitsu-siemens.com? Which options are hidden in the original 78.10 in the nvidia control panel compared to modded .inf drivers from laptopvideo2go?

New Amilo?

Hello all

Has anyone tried my suggestion to prevent overheating? Any results?
http://www.notebookforums.com/1113929

Does anyone know if fs is going to release a new updated/upgraded version of M3438G/M4438G or a new series of Amilo M laptops? If yes, when will this happen?

Also I want to ask, what is the instant go feature of m3438g?

Thank you
I haven't taken the battery out of mine once yet, but I suppose I should really, depending on how long the 'some time' is.

The Instant On feature of the 3438 is basically this: you press a specific button on the laptop, or press the corresponding button on the remote, and then the laptop will boot up in to a media player immediately (without loading windows). This can play DVDs, movies, music etc.

As for the nVidia options, quite a few are hidden, but I can't remember which. I found out they can be unlocked with tweaking programs anyway.

I haven't had the battery in mine since the 3rd day of ownership, however, I really can't tell much about the stability since I've had more than my fair share of problems (still have, though at least undervolting helped the temps a bit).

There is only one partition on a hard drive when you get the machine, in NTFS file system.

I know this might yet again be a problem just because of my lack of experience with notebooks, but do any of you guys have the strange pauses in the graphic output with some games? I have, for example if the camera is supposed to be moving smoothly over an area, well, it doesn't, there are small hiccups along the way. What's up with that, anyone ??

"Laptop batteries have finite life spans. Whether you use the power cord and remove the battery it will lengthen the life of the battery" . "Keeping a laptop battery on constant charge and never using it is not good for the laptop battery "

So basically, you should always have your battery out when working with AC power. The battery should be stored at about 40%.

@RuptuReD I meant the stability of the laptop itself while placed on the table without the battery

*double post, sorry*
Eh, Ok, like I've said, first lappy...

Yeah, it's stable, it won't trip over or anything...
That's good to know

I haven't seen much pics of the screen, though... Can anybody post some or give a link or two?
I'll take a few pics later if I can

As for the video jumping, I don't think that happens on mine. I too have undervolted the CPU (0.700V@6x, 1.020V@13x), and I get temps of 49-51C (after a couple of hours of usage with air ventilation most likely blocked partially) on 6x. I haven't really tried out the 13x yet, as I haven't played any games since yesterday evening.

Is there a way to reduce the HDD and GPU temps? I tried underclocking the 2D mode to half of the normal settings, but that didn't seem to affect anything.

THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!! I told earlier that the GPU of my 2xHDD amilo m 3438G hits the 100C line and causes a short slowdown (could say pause) to force the temps go down, then the gpu speeds up again after few seconds and overheats and slows down again, I think this is your problem too.. I think you hit 100C too!!! Open your gpu temps in windows so that you see them, then leave them visible and go and play till the game makes those "pauses", alt-tab out of the game direct to the temp monitor and you should see your GPU temps being VERY HOT (during the alt tab the temps have a few seconds time to fall down, but you'll see that the temps are not far away from 100C).

If this is your problem too, I think amilo m 3438G 2xHDD model has a great mistake in it! Developers rock!

If your problem wasnt about the temps please forgive me, but thats the thing I think you have including me also!!! Im starting to hate my overheating "supermachine"
