Review Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M4438G - Page 25

I haven't noticed a difference between the InstantOn 3in1 and InstantOn, so if you have the bandwidth, download the 3in1 version anyway, because it's newer. As for the drivers, if there are several version of the same one, just download the latest.

@mugabe

Thank you for your reply mugabe. Unfortunately this model (LKN:GBR-177200-007) is not available anymore from laptop direct. It is out of stock. I hope it will be available until the end of September. Otherwise I will buy it from FS online shop from where I think that I will be able to customize my laptop.

What to choose?

Hello you all.

I'm new to the forum but i read the forum for a while because i'm deciding what notebook to choose when i started i was pretty sure to buy the M3438G but it seems you al have problems it seems. (or is it yust my impression).
Do you still think it is a good idea to buy the notebook. Because i saw the Acer ferrari 4005 also and it has about the same price and it has a AMD turion 2.0 Ghz proccessor (64 bit) So i can use it with Linux full throttle. But the acer has a only a 15,4" screen. What do you all think.
Choices, choices, choises

ROJO! Almost all answering on this forum has problem. So thats all you hear. But if you look at Acer in this forum you see a lot of problems also. The problems for 3438/4438 are mainly of minor severity and most people will not even recognize it as a problem.
I still strongly suggest this notebook.
My problem now is that they are replacing my screen but the WUXGA for 4438G is out of stock in whole Europe. Im getting a bit annoyed now. Shouldnt there be spare parts when you sell stuff?
Anyway no problem with the 3438 in stock. Almost, almost wish I had a 3438 right now.

Well, the screen is nice (apart from the bit orangey pure red, see here: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=103572)
(had to come up with something to post to get to 100, you all understand)

Here's a norwegian review of the M4438 with a small pic of the M4438 and Dell XPS2 side by side. Here are a few benchmark results as well from that review...

Hello, I've had the 3438 for two days, I am testing it and I have to say that it works perfectly. I haven't noticed anything with regards the keyboard (someone said having any problem with it). The only thing is the temperature, but I only notice it when I have the notebook over my legs, otherwise it is perfectly passable for me. Two more questions:
1-The InstantOn I have installed is the Linux version, but in the drivers CD there is also a Windows version, What is the difference between them?
2- Anybody knows the difference between InstantOn and InstantOn 3in1?
Thank you.

And what about the Linux version of InstantOn (that version was installed when I bought the notebook), what's the difference with the Windows version?
Thanks.
They're both linux versions. You can just install it from Windows.

viewing angle

Hello

I want to ask if the viewing angle of the screen of the amilo3436 is good.
For example is it good enough to sit back with some friends and watch a movie, or only the person sitting directly in front of the laptop will enjoy a good picture?
The viewing angle on it is amazing, you should have no problems with that.

Hello, I'm having problems downloading driver updates form Fujitsu's web.
First when I download a driver (zip file) ,to the hard disk and then I unzip it, it appears a message saying something like "Windows has blocked the file because downloads files can be dangerous", so I can't open it, but it also says that if I want to unzip it anyway I have to click on it, select properties and click on unlock (well I don't know what is the word in English as I an Spanish and the OS is in Spanish). The thing is that I follow these steps, but when I try to unzip it again the same message appears too. I have downloaded the DOS version but I don't know how to install it, I unzip the file and I execute it, but appears a black window (DOS I suppose), so I have closed inmediatly because I have no idea what to do with it.
Please HELP!!!!
Thank you.

Use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE and you'll have no problem with things like that.

Or Opera.
Well, but do you know what to do using Internet Explorer? or do you know how to install the drivers in DOS mode?
I don't have a clue about Internet Explorer, I haven't used it for a long time.

Perhaps if you posted some more information such as what drivers do you need, what file did you execute, etc. then we might be able to help.
