PCMCIA Problems?

I just bought the creative audigy zs card for my notebook an hour ago, and I have yet to get my xps2 to detect it. This is my first time to use this port, and I have had the laptop for about 2 months now. Do you guys think it is a problem with the soundcard I just bought, or maybe with the actual port?

I was so excited to plug in my speakers

hmm, well I think the problem is that I have no PCMCIA Controller Installed! Can anyone tell me the driver that they are using for their XPS2? I cannot find the driver from the dell support site.

Mine is detected as a Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or Compatible CardBus Controller. The driver being used is pcmcia.sys in the system32\drivers directory. (or "folder" for you young'uns) The driver details are 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158).

Yep, and I just reinstalled all my drivers. Still no cardbus controller. It's like my computer doesent even realize it has a pcmcia slot.

Probably don't want to hear this, but you might have to bite the bullet & try another reinstall of the OS.....

Is it possible that it was disabled in the BIOS?

Trevek, did you ever get this working? It could be a hardware problem with the PCMCIA slot, or a loose wire.

Yea, they had to send a tech to my house to replace the motherboard. Put the new motherboard in and it worked fine.
