Z63A 3D Benchmarks?

Thread Starter
Hey all. I'm seriously considering the Asus Z63A, but (like many others) the Intel 915GM graphics hold up. Can anyone who has a Z63A do some benchmarks? I have so far seen only one done, and it was very poor. Wondering what others are coming up with. Thanks alot guys!

What kind of numbers are you looking for? When benchmarking most sites would use a constant, and usually very demanding, set of options for all cards, which will obviously yield unplayable results on GMA 900.

Most games (but for the latest and gratest high end ones) will be perfectly playable at lower settings (as long at you're running dual channel). Go back up to a year to the likes of WoW or Far Cry they'll work but if you have been 'spoiled' by much better desktop graphics you may find the simpler settings (and occational glitch) distracting to the point of hurting gameplay. Go back another year to UT 2003, GTA Vice City, or Jedi Academy, for example, and there will probably not be any problems at all.

If you're thinking of the Z63A and worried about graphics, you might as well gtet the W3V. It is exactly the same as the Z63A, but has an dedicated X600 chip instead of the on-board Intel chip.

Of course I don't have to tell you what others have already said: if you're going to game on it, there are better choices. However, if you're wondering how DVDs will play on it, it should be okay. I have a friend who plays DVDs on his notebook just fine with 64 MB shared video memory, and this has up to 128 MB shared video memory and a better controller than the previous Centrino version that he has.

Your sister has one? Have you run any battery tests? I would love to see how the battery is compared with the W3V....
