Sorry for the late update, I've been slacking since I've been playing a lot of games lately.

Just dl'd 3dmark 2001 se, 03, 05, pcmark04, aquamark 3, and sandra. Both systems are pretty much out of the box. Never messed with any of the settings or did I even update the drivers. All stock. What nvidia drivers do you use ?
those XPS2 numbers are pretty off you should be doing 5100+
post #5 of 63
Yeah Im getting 5312 with my xps2.

What drivers come with the Sager 9880?

I would expect the 9880 to be a little ahead of the XPS 2 due to its processor. Perhaps you could bench those computers on Doom3 and half life 2, personally I don't find synthetic benchmarks very useful.

5297 stock with dell 7201 drivers and all dell bloatware.

I've just updated my drivers to the 77.72 to try and help out the bf2 performance. I actually got around 20 points lower than my best score with the 7201 dell drivers. I hope some of the crazy lag is taken care of with these drivers. I got the 77.72s from laptopvideo 2 go.

Well I dl'd the 77.72 drivers from dell and yet I still get the same score for 3dmark05 49xx+/- NEVER hitting over 5k yet. What else am I missing to update this computer

Do you happen to have any 3D rendering programs? (3DS MAX, Lightwave, Maya, etc...) I'd like to see a head 2 head rendering comparison...

How are you installing the new drivers? Do you just run the executable or do you do a proper uninstall?
Try these steps:
1. Uninstall Nvidia drivers in Safe Mode
2. Run Driver Cleaner Pro in Safe Mode
3. Empty Recycling Bin in Safe Mode
4. Install new drivers - try 80.40 Extreme G from www.tweaksrus.com

Now reboot and run 3DMark...let us know the result!

maxrule are you using performance setting for the 53xx or are you using high quality?
Hellspire, I believe maxrule is using high performance for those numbers as am I. I get about 200 points less when I use high quality during the benchmark.

5200 is the avg. 3DMark05 score for the XPS2 --- without OC'n
post #17 of 63
that BS on the XPS 2,,,Ur using DELL Drivers and that aint fair.

Stock the XPS can hit 5200 EASYY!!!! So its basically inline if not slightly ahead of the 9880.
how much is the 9880 with the same setup as us?

this thread is ridiculous.
"My pc is better than yours."
"My power supply is bigger than yours."
"I can piss farther than you"

Truth be told, both the 9880 and the xps2 are crap when compared to the new d900k.

So what are you gonna say the dell has, then? Funny lights?
The 9880 is a proffesional laptop, built to do every app on it.

The dell is a portable gaming laptop, but cant run serious applications.

Those are the main factors when somebody buys a laptop, not the 3d05 scores. If youre gonna use a benchmark, use hl2 or domm3 in ultra high settings.

We need to start showing proof of age around here, these posts sound very 5th grade.
Not that I doubt you, but what serious apps can the 9880 do that the XPS2 cant? They both have the same vid card, so whats the deal? For certain "professional apps" neither of them can compete with a QuadroFX 1400...

I await your response.
