Apple is offering a deal where any college student that purchases a mac computer will receive a free ipod mini in addition to their purchase (or $180 off a better ipod) until september. Im glad I held off buying my powerbook until the end of summer. One question tho, if apple is offering this to college students, whats stopping some young kid or old guy from picking a school and saying he goes there? Do they auctally ask for a confromation from the school? Thanks guys and I hope I helped someone out.

If it's like last year you HAVE to buy both of them at the same time and you have to send in the forms within like 20 days after buying. They were completely misleading last time they did this deal and myself and many other people got shafted.
Anyway, when you buy from the Apple store online you don't need ID or anything. You just select your school and place your order. I think they randomly do checks, but otherwise there's nothing to stop you.

hmmm, I just bought my powerbook too. Damn deals. If I would have waiting one week I could have got this deal. My mom was wanting a iPod mini. It doesn't seem free because it is a rebate and it is only a "free" ipod if you get the 4GB version. Anything else and the rebate just becomes a $179 coupon. I also think I don't qualify for the $100 rebate that they previously had, but, eh, might try.
