Just how "overrated" is that sparkle effect on the Z71V? I think, more than anything else, that that is my major concern w/ that lappy. What sucks is that I don't have anywhere to find these notebook to test out; take out for a test drive .

Sparkles? I enjoy working on my Z71V every minute. Great screen and laptop.

Sparkles are the Geek Perfection Side Effect.

i notice the sparkles.. i know ppl does too when they look at my laptop.. i'll luv a sparkless screen... i can live with a screen with sparkles.. but it just isn't a preference.. not a deal breaker.. if i needed a laptop now.. i would wait for the z70v-refresh hands down

Are underclocked video cards fairly common on asus notebooks? If thats so then I would feel much more comfortable purchasing the z71v.

Go for Z71V...

Get a Pentium 1.6, easily overclock to 2.13Ghz...that piece alone will save you a couple of hundreds..
