i downloaded a Debian binary install ISO from they're website, and im tryin to burn a data CD with k3b. i burned it as a straight up CD image, with the default options, but when i restarted it did not boot from the CD. yes, my bios is set to boot from CD first.

If you have a bootable .iso image than that should be all you need(From the sounds of it you think you do, most distro .iso files you can download are bootable, at least the larger distros)

But to go slightly off topic, if you dont have an iso image, I dont know the exact procedure but I believe it involves having an image of a 1.44 MB floppy that is bootable to make the bootable image, or did when I used the commandline tools, But I cant tell you much past that sorry. With K3B you probably dont need that though
