Give it a try, nvflash will just give you a random crash code. After failing with nvflash I tried another flash program (dont remember the name now) and it started flashing the card but ultimately failed and I ended up w/a bad flash and a dead card.

lol Ok question... if I was to flash using NVflash and it didnt work what would I do to save the card? If the flash doesn't work does it not flash? And if I do kill a card what Would I tell dell so I can get my replacement?

Don't worry it won't kill your card so go ahead and try*. nVFlash will just crash and/or lock with an error message before it does anything to your card.

*Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for you killing your card.

have you guys tried e-mailing Nvidia? Because if they make the card, they must have a utility to flash it.. (shrugs) they might give it to you..

When you attempted, did you check for compatability (-c) and then check the image you wrote (-k)?

I'm curious as to whether or not it was a successful (accurate) read for you.

If it was, I wonder if using -r (remove write protect) first might make any difference. I really wish you knew what the error was you were given.

Do you think this would work for the iXPS 2?

I checked for compatiblity but never used the -k switch. I did however try the -r remove write protect switch and it made no difference. As I said though, that shouldn't deter others from experimenting as long as they know that if they use another program aside from nvflash they risk a dead card (like me back then).

YUP if those sager guys hurry up!!!!
the thing is that.. if the image was faulty.. then disabling write protect wouldn't make a difference
post #33 of 427
I doubt they will.. why don't you try extracting your old bios, and then flashing it to see if the program works? I'd do it myself, but I left my laptop home, and I won't have access to it till tomorrow

Do me a favor. I need to know a few things.

~ When you checked for compatability, did it pass?
~ When you compared, did your image match your eeprom?
~ Did you try flashing it with that same image?

I'd like to rule out any possibility of outside interference and verify that the problem does indeed lie with nvflash.

Also, what are the default (not stock) cpu and memory speeds? By this I mean the speeds that you get when you click default in the OC panel. I might be able to hex edit that rom you sent me in case we ever get the flashing part worked out.

Here's the modded rom file the nibitor author sent me: 6800 Go Ultra Rom It's an underclocked version just for testing.

The original image that I got from my 6800 Go Ultra: Original 6800 Go Ultra rom

Did you use NvFlash to extract the bios or the NERD program?
