So what clock speeds seem to allow you to run BF2? Textures were messed up at 512/1300.

How do you force 1920x1200?

EXACT same thing happened to my XPS 2 before the other motherboard failed on me. Here's a tip: If you are using the newest bios, revert to the old one since the new one reports temps too high and it doesn't kick on the fans nearly often enough. Also take the TIM off the gpu heatsink and apply some AS 5.

AS5 has been applied and the fans were running 3800 rpm during that capture.

Why settings so low? I run everything on High with 4xAA (albeit on 1600x1200 until I learn how to force 1900x1200) and I get around 45-48 FPS on average.

Right click your BF2 shortcut and make sure your target looks like this.

"[driveletter]:Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Everything isn't on low. The game looks good. I just don't have all the eyecandy turned on.

With your settings you can't run BF2 at 1920x1200 smoothly. You have to disable all the stuff that creates the most performance hit.

Did anyone have any luck running the game at my settings? With one gig of ram, the HD will be working for about 5 minutes after the game loads (makes it kinda hard to play)... It is still loading the textures into the memory, once it's done the game will run fine..

i'm running bf2 on my 9300 with 2gb ram, 1.86ghz, video card clocked at 370/770, at 1920X1200 res, everything set at high, and it seems pretty smooth to me. of course, i don't have high speed internet, so maybe its just playing on singleplayer?

Hello!

I've read 1st post - guide how to flash/modify bios.. I have Leadtek 6800GT pci-x 256mb (350/1000).. The fan is spinning at full speed only during post or in bios, but once in windows it slows down alot.. even if gaming, even if overclocked and gaming and even if it shows artifacts (@390/1100).. So i was thinking of modifying bios. I've downloaded pci-x Leadtek6800gt bios.. I've opened this file with NiBiTor and modified few things.. I set clock to 390/1100, i set fan speed to 100% (was 53 be4 ).. Should i increase voltage too? i dont want to mess with timings..

So.. will it work if i flash the card with this modified bios?

Thank You!

From your post I deduce that you are using a desktop.
(leadtek in laptops?)

I'm not trying to sound harsh or anything, but this is NOTEBOOKforums.com, and this thread is dedicated to overclocking the dell xps gen 2 laptop. This has to be done in this way because the card is locked for normal OCing.

(nice card though, my friend's getting one too)

uffff.. i see.. i'm sorry.. I didn't know that it is for notebooks only..

As far as I know adding that argument will "force" a resolution but the game is not actually render in 1920x1200. On my desktop I have Dell's 2405FPW (24" widescreen LCD), even with that argument I do not believe it's rendering at 1920x1200 because everything isn't as crisp as other games at 1920x1200 (CS:S, GTA:SA, etc). The command line can however be used to fit a monitor better.

Looks crisp to me.
Probably because you're using a 17" screen. On my 24" I can see noticeable blur around text using the 1920x1200 "command line hack". This has been discussed on other forums and the conclussion is that it's not truly rendering at that resolution. The 2405FPW is a top rated LCD that blows my i9300s LCD out of the water, so I know it isn't just me.
