Why should I have to pay for driver updates?

Why can't I find a driver update for my Asus Z7100v without going to a paid site? It drives me crazy that I have one of just a few nVidia video cards that can't use drivers from teh nVidia site. The Asus site rarely works, and when it does, I can't find anything for the Go6600 in this laptop. That's crazy. I'm glad there are paid driver services, but Asus shouldn't require that I use it to get drivers from them.

Am I crazy, or is this pretty bad customer support from Asus?

I have 4 Asus computers (including this laptop) and their support for this laptop is terrible compared to the other 3 MoBos.

THere has to be a better way. I'm still using the original video driver that came with this laptop.

Any body have an option that doesn't require me to pay a subscription fee?

You've got a few options. The first is to try one of the NBF MobileForce drivers hosted here. They'll work for any mobile nVidia card. The second is to pick a driver from laptopvideo2go.com and use their modified .inf to make it work with your video card. And the third is to find a driver on laptopvideo2go that was released by Asus and supports your graphics card natively, then take the NVAM.inf file from the "drivers" or "INFs" folder (I don't remember exactly which it's called) into the main folder containing the rest of the driver and then install. I've got a Z71V and I'm currently using the third option. I've tried both the other two options before as well and all of them work (although not every driver will work ideally - that may take some trial and error). I've found the third option assures me the best driver reliability.
