Windows Update V6 (now called Microsoft Update)

This is an M$ page about the several "Windows Update" programs:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/u...displaylang=en

This is the page about "Microsoft Update":

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...e/default.mspx

The nice feature of "Microsoft Update" is that it also checks for MS Office updates at the same time.

System Requirements
For customers using Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Update provides updates for the following Microsoft applications:

Client operating systems and applications:

• Windows XP
• Windows 2000 (with SP3 or greater)
• Office (XP or greater)

Server operating systems and applications:

• Windows Server 2003
• Exchange Server (2000 or greater)
• SQL Server (2000 with SP4 or greater)

Just another reason for M$ to screw you.

IE->Tools->Windows Update still does the "Windows" update only not the "Microsoft".

It's handy if you're using Office, it just dl'd a couple of updates for XP and Office and installed them. That means even less thinking and moving I'll have to do.

v6 of the update program does not change the Tools menu to read "Microsoft Update". When you click on "Windows Update" it will run "Microsoft Update" instead.
