What is wrong with Dell? - Page 13

Dell can at least be proud of its users loyalty.

What exactly are you guys looking for?

I have told you my opinion. I have told you where my opinion comes from. I have stated my experience and why its relavant to laptops.

I have said it before and Ill say it again. No laptop can compare to a high end Desktop for gaming.

Dells are good gaming laptop systems but thats like having a three legged mule it might look cool but its just not the best choice for a race.

What evidence do you want? top ten rating of laptop ruggedness. Afidavits from other professionals. How about first hand accounts for international correspondents.

Heres the truth, you dont like my opinion becuase it makes you feel bad so you are lashing out at me for having the opinion but you must realize how childish that is.

I am willing to be converted please show me Im wrong, I keep waiting.

The "rigors" of hard work, is what I'm assuming you meant to say, are fairly irrelevant.

God forbid that I use a computer for what I bought it for... to type up school documents, research, game, chat online, and so forth. The fact that the XPS2 puts up very VERY good numbers for any laptop out there for any operation you want to subject it to is just gravy.

But ya know, I guess I'm stupid for not wanting to play dodgeball with my laptop. The rigors of hard work, indeed.

Please name a few laptops that -do- stack up to your test of hard work. I'd love to hear that.

"Wow! I just hit my laptop with a powerdrill! But it's okay, because it's encased in ballistic 50mm armour! Nevermind that it weighs 40 pounds, it doubles as a blunt object for beating those Dell 'fanbois'!"

hey..anyone think i should get the "EXTENDED BATTERY" for my DELL?

I heard having an extended battery life will come in handy with bombs/explosions/gunfires incoming. Or does that only apply when you're in a war torn country?

Or should i replace the hinges to make them "Above average" like other non-DELL laptops just in case some insurgents try to launch a rocket propelled grenade at me?

Or should i just forget about doing the upgrades to my DELL and buy another laptop to protect myself from the tragedies that exist in a war torn nation..i can't make up my mind

sure, i'll take some evidence, if your offering or just making a dumb statement to try and show your right.

Give me an affidavit from a "professional", a top ten rating for laptop ruggedness for use in a war torn nation, or first hand accounts of an international correspondent who used a NON-DELL laptop to shielf himself from incoming attacks/gunfire...

i'm waiting
Well I have given you an afidavit from a professional. The only one in the thread except for TntOak as far as I can tell.

I dont care what you believe, your not going to get me to change my opinion by using forum spaming.

Your feelings are not the issue. I have stated what I have seen and worked with there is nothing more I will do. Your childish response's do nothing except prove to me that this forum is not a good place for information. To many Fanboi's and not enough real knowledge. Its a shame when a forum gets over run with children.
wow..so you've seen the ability of a non-dell laptop to be able to withstand the rigors of a war-torn nation? Did the laptop explode? crack? shatter? or was it left unscathed?

I'm guessing that if it was a DELL, the bullet would have gotten right through it and left it demolished?

go war-torn nation approved laptops! go!!!

its a shame when this board gets run over with 38 year old idiots who make outrageous comments like non-dell laptops are fire, explosion, bomb, grenade proof

You play the victim, act insulted, and then call the people of this thread who disagree with you, and are inwardly chuckling because our notebooks would be unable to withstand a Scud missle, children.

I find it amusing that you would make such wild refrences to Dell notebooks being unable to withstand a war when any other notebook that I am aware of would be trashed if placed near -any- incindiary device found in a war-like atmosphere.

By all means, call me a child. It really doesn't bother me to be insulted over the internet.

It is humorous though, that you call others children, and at the same time, seem incapable of using correct punctuation and grammar.

So I guess I can't use your 700 m as my bullet proof vest
post #253 of 393
i don't know..i'm gonna give it a try by going to Iraq or Kosovo and am going to take my cousin as well.

I'm going to take my dell 700m and my cousin is going to take his IBM thinkpad...we're going to run in front of the US embassy with the laptops under our shirts to make them look like homemade bombs. When we get attacked by US forces, we'll find out whose laptop is able to withstand the heat....

i HOPE i make it back but i'm not sure since i have a DELL and they're not war torn country proof,

but i'm certain my COUSIN WILL!!!!! he's bound to, his laptop's ability to withstand bombs, guns, grenades and other explosions is attested to, through an "Affidavit" by a 10 year IT professional who has worked for some of the world's most respected and successful companies!!

Or your problem is that you think too highly of yourself when in fact you don't know much of what you talk about at all. You didn't even stay on topic, went off into your little story about how laptops can't withstand war conditions, and then you end with "No laptop can compare to a high end Desktop for gaming". Now you tell me, how the hell does that all tie together. You have no transition into what you discuss, you just talk a bunch of crap hoping somebody will acknowledge your sheer genious. And then you say we are 'childish'. Well, seems that everyone else thinks otherwise.

Now..., whats your real age? 9?
Well, I was gone for a couple of days, and this thread moved so fast in that time.

Anyway, mwillman, you think Dell's are not made for the things of the real world. Well, if school, college classes, and work are not the real world, I guess you're right. Think about the people that are in Iraq and the other place you mentioned that use laptops. Then, think about how the people who use laptops who are not in Iraq and that other place ridiculously outnumber the people in Iraq who use laptops.

I think we found out what mwillman's problem is. He drives a Ford. That says it all.

Hmm, this so called "adult" seems to think that Dell laptops are middle-of-the-road systems. I guess the XPS Gen 2, the best gaming laptop out there, is middle-of-the-road.

Then again, mwillman is not one to talk, as he seems to have only had a middle-of-the-road education. (If he can take the thread off-topic, so can I.) Allow me to explain:

"I dont care what you believe, your not going to get me to change my opinion by using forum spaming."
I can see three mistakes in that one sentence. Oh, wait, there are four.

"Dell can at least be proud of its users loyalty.

Well, there are at least 13 mistakes within that quote. There must be more where that came from, so I'm not even going to go back to the other pages.

Oh, well. As stupid as he may seem, mwillman has convinced me I should not buy a Dell. I might end up going to war and having my laptop blown to bits. Oh, wait. He didn't convince me to do anything other than keep assuming he is an idiot. Trust me, mwillman, if my laptop was blown to pieces, I would probably have more to worry about than the laptop.

if you do go to war, make sure you dont have a DELL. Get something "above average" like a SONY, TOSHIBA, ASUS, SAGEr, or anything but a DELL as long as it is "war-torn country" approved!

When you see a grenade coming towards you, you know that your laptop will make it out alive! A DELL would have been ripped to shreds!

Better then my weekly read of Foxtrot :-)

To post on topic, Dell makes pretty good laptops/desktops.

In my current employment as a network admin with 4+ yrs experience, I have dealt with the D600/600M and the 8500/8600 Dell notebooks. I must say the performance from these are pretty good, from a business aspect. My only gripe with the D600/600M platform is the touchpads are very poor quality. I have seen 10-20 of these units, and about 70% of the touchpads had major tracking/scrolling issues. In my daily use of my personal laptop I use a usb trackball, so the touchpad doesn't get used very often.

Overall for the money, you can't get a better deal then Dell. It is hard to compare quality of different laptop manufacturers, because the amount of sales varies widely. Dell sells many more notebooks then most manufacturers, so it is inherent that there will be more problems/issues per amount sold.

If you are in need of a laptop that CAN take a beating, try the Panasonic Rugged Toughbook.

that's okay friend ...

at least you didn't make a dumb comment like.."dell's are not fit for the rigors of a war torn nation because of its lack of battery life which may not allow it to properly sustain the impact of a RPG grenade"....that's what TANKS and ARMOR are for
