I've just purchased 2x512MB DDR400 modules to install in my Aspire 1510 series, unfortunately when it's installed, the machine doesn't boot (just gives 4 slow beeps when powered on).
At first I assumed that it must be the fact that it's DDR400 (the original RAM was DDR333) however I found 2x256MB DDR400 modules, and they are working perfectly, and running at DDR400 speed.
I've tried the 512MB modules in 3 other laptops, and the only one they didn't work in was another Acer (Aspire 1520), so it's not a problem with the modules themselves.
To add to the strangeness, if I boot up with one of the (working) 256MB modules, and one 512MB module, although only the 256MB module is used or even detected on bootup, CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.org/) detects that the 512MB module is installed and reads the model info from it.
Any insights as to why it's not working, and maybe how to fix it would be appreciated.
