hinge/monitor power inverter problems

My question(s) are for the opinions of these forums, in which there are many.

My sad story.
I have a Sager 8887, which is misbehaving. The screen is flashing like a strobe light when it is at a normal viewing angle and i have certain websites or 3d spps open (note, that these things dont always have to be on, they just seem to make the problem happen more) but, when i move the lcd back to a 180 degree angle or as far back as it will go, the problem disappears.

My service history for the problem.
I have sent it to Micromedics, via Phillips 4 times for this issue and now they want to replace the lcd assembly for $800-something or my first born. I searched these forums for an answer and it seemed like the monitor power inverter might be at fault, or the broken hinges(i have one on the right side, although no case cracks), or cables getting crimped/pulled. I think the cable theory holds best, since the problem goes away when the screen is leaned back. I called Luke at PCTorque(BIG KUDOS, he really helped me out and listened to my sad story) and he pointed out that pro star might service it or sell me the parts. (I called sager and have not had a response) I called prostar and they want to service it in house only. $85(labor)+$15(hinge)+$70 (monitor power inverter)+shipping. Its not a bad price, and I have a call in to phillips to see if they will reimburse me for this, if it fixes the problem and micromedics mis-diagnosed it.

My questions.
1. Do you guys think this could be the problem or something else?
2. is there any place in the US where i can get these parts?(Luke said there was not any that he knew of, and i believe he is right)
3. Does anyone have any spare hinges to sell me, at the least(either way, i need new ones)

I have no problem replacing components in this thing, i just need to get my hands on them.

Do you notice any red tint, particularly when the LCD first lights up? That's usually a sign of a failing bulb.

I think anything exhibiting the strobe-like effects you've described is most likely related to a failing LCD backlight bulb (fluorescent) or inverter.

I noticed no tint, but I also could not pay attention to the screen too much without causing my eyes to hurt, so pinching the wires for the backlight might be whats happening. Ill look at those also and try to take pics of everything i do.

well, looks as if its a bum/bent/mis-routed/squeezed cable. I will try to get some pics up. I have some videos of the problem and will try to get them up also. Does anyone have the clevo tech manual? I used to have it from a link on these forums, but i dotn know where it is now.....
