clevo d470k / sager 4750 bios 1.05

www.eurocom.ca has a 1.05 firmware for the d470k (same as sager 4750)

Doesn't sound like alot has changed from their quick list but there may be more than what they tell. seems to be working fine
post #2 of 14
Hi!

I've just visited www.eurocom.ca and have not found
other BIOS for D470K Python than "D470KR104.zip"
(Nov 5 04), whose name and date both suggest that it is v.1.04, not 1.05.

On the other hand, on the site of German D470K cloning
www.medion.de, I have found another version of BIOS,
packed inside the file "biocad2000.exe". The ROM
file inside is named CMK015.ROM and its date is Dec 9 04.
This version seems to be newer than that of Eurocom.

By the way, I would greatly appreciate, if some of you, guys, will send me a copy of v.1.03 and/or the
corresponding fan firmware S1-S3. I failed to find
the subj in the internet.
I hope older fan firmware (forcing fans,
especially that of HDD, to work constantly) fits much
better to my HDD. With BIOS 1.4 its temp reaches
60-62C with "always on" scheme! In idle state,
where no Doom's or WoW's are played! In fact, playing
games reduces the temp a bit, because fans are working
almost constantly then.

My e-mail: vmolot at inrne dot bas dot bg.

Lappy: Medion/Cytron D470K, A64 3200+, 512RAM,
HDD: Hitachi TS 4K80 (4200rpm, but up to 26M Sandra
HDD index: very strange!)

strange, I'm staring at the eurocom page right now. They do have part of it mistyped but if you look at the info PAST the initial version line, you'll see the update description and the download file is 1.05. Also of note is that I have already downloaed and used winphlash to update my d470k and it is now running 1.05. Apparently Sager has a 1.05 firmware too if you contact them.

Model: D470K Python
Version: R1.04

2. Added support for AMD sempron processor (35W)

R1.00.05

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong page. Now I've found the page
with 1.05 as well, but failed to find old version 1.03 on this site.
And several links placed at this forum are dead now.

Contacting Sager (by phone!) is much more tedious ( than
simply downloading file from Eurocom.

By the way, it seems that Sager/Eurocom BIOSes and their
enumeration differs from that of Medion. When I start my Medion
D470K, I get while POST a sky-blue screen with "AMD64 Mobile
Athlon" logo at the upper left corner of the screen, with no POST
messages. I'm able to see these messages only if I press "Del"
key in due moment while POST runs. And the BIOS string says:
"BIOS CMK01x", instead of "D470KR1.0x" as is in Sager/Eurocom
lappies. Strange, because Sager/Eurocom D470K==Medion D470K==Clevo D470K.

Stock version of my BIOS was CMK012, this night I've upgraded it
with CMK015, using WinPhlash. No difference in cooling strategy
between "new" and old version: the fans dully ignore temps
of hdd, switching on only when CPU temp riches 55C, and
switching off when the latter temp drops to 40C. Meanwhile
hdd temp reaches 63C. May be because it is a hot day here
(in Bulgaria): the room temp is above 30C!

Hey lets here some replys about the new 1.05 bios. Im at a friends house right now and when i get back ill install them and see if theres a difference. Hopefully they're better!

As one can conclude from update description (see ramazz
post above), 1.05 adds nothing new except support of "P-state"
(I dunnow what is it) in Mobile 65W Semprons.

I.e. nothing new for A64 (.

Most likely they customized their bios with a bootup logo as functionality would be the same.

The fan controller is not changed in the main bios but in the keyboard firmware. Sager was providing a bootable iso which updated both main and kb firmware. I have a copy of what I think was that iso (not sure if this one did main only or both main and kb) but here ya go

Thank you very much, ramazz!

This seems to be the version I was looking for,
with no success, in internet!

Sorry to bring up a dead thread. Will downloading a Eurocom or other manuf bios onto my stock clevo d470k have any adverse effects? Not really interested in screwing up my system but wanted to see if this bios update would solve some of my sound issues. Thanks...

since our hardware is all the same it shouldn't bust anything. The only differences any of the manufacturers do (if they even bother) is put in thier own boot logo and maybe change some of the bios info to say thier name instead of clevo. Go ahead, though not sure if any of these can fix your audio issues.

what bios you at now as well as what realtek driver? what issues are you having?
Downloaded it and updated it without a problem. Figured out that i was using the wrong audio driver. All is better on that front.
Now my only issue is running XP x64, my friggin cpu is stuck @ 801mhz. Can't figure it out.

This is normal, it's a battery saving thing, nothing to worry about. AMD PowerNow! dashboard can possibly show you the variation in processor speed to save power, I don't know if this requires an AMD driver first or not though.

Does anyone know what "Fixed the 3D games problem, requires VGA driver V8.04" means? I have problems with my (Rock) D470K in games, I get funny colours suddenly come up, e.g. in HL2, so I'm tempted to play around with this to see if it makes it go away. It's hard to repeat the problem tho so any explanation would be greatfully recieved!

Quick question - what's the current version of the KB firmware? I hve 1.02 on my D470K clone...

Thanks for the link to the 1.05 bios!

This means that you can install the newer supplied 8.04 driver they provide. I'd simply hack a newer set of catalyst 5.7s or whatever is latest and use that since the 8.04 is horribly old already being based on catalyst 4.8 or 4.9 I think.

Between the bios update and the ati driver update your issues SHOULD disappear, mine did.
