Hi Guys, buying first laptop for a mobile video editing platform.
Have a 1200quid budget at present trying to raise to 1500.
What do you recommend considering the following;
weight not a problem, or battery life. What matters most is speed of video rendering and video playback. will get seperate firewire HD for storage.Need 17" screen too.
Narrowed it down to Acer 1804wsmi, HP zd8000, Mesh Ultima plus, Rock Extreme Ti.
Is a 5400 HD fast enough for video editing if 2Gig ram is present- will it be able to preview from Ram?
Is 256 VRAM important or would it better to spend on more RAM?
Do the new PCIexpress cards with more pixel pipes make difference to video rendering?
Other thing is how does Turion 64 do at editing video?
& Do the P4M's ( ie as in DELL 9300) offer similar performance to P4 Prescott with their bigger cache but slower speed?
I like a lot of the features on the Acer;( price and extended g'tee.) but am hesitant to buy a machine that is not specifically built for video work. Your reviews seem to point to good build quality which is important as it will be used all over the place.
