Sorry, for all of the dumb questions. But does the dell dvd burner only do dvd+r and dvd+ rw, and not and dvd-r, dvd-rw? If this is the case, is it hard to buy a different dvd burner from newegg as well? Thanks in advance, im getting all antsy about ordering this, i hope tonight is the night!

How about the hard drive? Is the 7200rpm really worth it for something like vid editing?
Yes, but you will have to take out the single 512 stick of Ram or the double 256 Stick, depending on what you ordered, and install the 1 Gig sticks yourself. You could sell the sticks of the old memory on Ebay or something. I believe that the Gen 2 only has 2 memory slots.

I didn't opt for the 7200 Rpm drive. I just thought it was way too expensive and I wanted a lot of hard drive space so I just got the 100 gig 5400 rpm drive.

Right right, im torn between the xps2 and the 9300. What are the major differences if speced the same? Im not much of a gamer, actually I will play them rarely, but I want a pc that will perform well.

Theese so called super saveings coupons but a lot of the goodies are left out. if you add it up with what you get and what you want a lot of options and upgrades are not available with theese specials.I guess if you want that exact system and dont plan to upgrade you are doing good. But if you pick a system and have to go to dell or newegg or crucial and purchase more hardware as upgrades Ram,processor videocard ect.The question is are you really saving? And are you getting the configuration you want or will you have to adress it with $ down the road and be stuck with brand new hardware leftover after you upgrade to where you really want the machine. There is also the warranty i have noticed the 90 day on a few. So start adding those $ on top of the so called super deal and it isnt really as much as a saving as you think when you break it down.

if you wont play games much, then go for the 9300 or lower. the xps is only for hardcore gamers IMO. the 9300 can be configured with great gpu, cpu, HD, and ram for about $1500. the xps is at least 2000, and thats with this ridiculous deal going on. maybe a top notch 700m would be better for you if you will never play games

Well I will be doing demanding things like editing videos and adobe photoshop. Also I plan on playing some BF2 and maybe even HL2, but I wouldnt consider myself "hardcore". But when I do play it will be multiplayer. There are plenty of video editing set ups that are more expensive than "hardcore gaming" setups.

from what you say, the 9300 sounds like it is all you need. and like i said, it will be a lot cheaper. just configure a 9300 with 2 ghz pentium M, lowest ram, the right HD size, and the 6800 GPU, then buy 1 or 2 gigs ram from newegg. it will def. be cheaper than an xps with similar specs

you don't need the ultra to play the best games, the 6800 Go is great

the price difference between xps gen 2 and 9300 model with the same exact configuration is $258 for this 35% off deal. what you are paying for is the better chassy and better GPU. so take your pick.

Are theere any add ons for this 35%?
CAuse when i buy this(hopefully really soon)
i like don't want any regrets lol i just want like the best of the best?
}
p.s. on the 7800gt(X) note... will the xps2 be upgradeable maybe?

Price Increase

I noticed that the price of the XPS2 went up ~$150 since yesterday....so my configuration comes out to be $100 more. Very sneaky, Dell, to do that overnight.

How does that work out, if you're coughing up money to just save a little ?

Yes, Dell is sneaky. The 2.13 processor was $235 and it's now back to the normal $299 for the 35% off.

Heres my question since i got the 1gb of ram how many slots will I have left? Will i be able to upgrade my ram to 2gb or are my slots full?
2 slots and you will have 2 sticks installed... you will need 2 1gb sticks.

Take out the Dell RAM... sell it on Ebay... go to Newegg and buy 2 1 GB sticks...

What speed is the 100 GB drive on the XPS2 ? It doesn't say on the order page. If it's 5400 I'll go with that. If not I'll go with tthe 80 GB 7200 RPM.
I went with the 80gb 7200 just to be safe. Im not sure what speed the 100gb is, are you buying right now? I ordered tonight!
