I got an email from Dell Notify and they said my new ship date is July 22, 2005. The ship date for the keyboard is like August 4 Haha sick, and it's supposed to be delivered on August 5... Free Overnight!!!

My approach is to order the best system I can find for my needs at the time I need one. The last two laptops have been Dells, but that doesn't mean the next one will be. I'll certainly look at them, and the fact I've been happy with the Inspiron 8000 and now the XPS Gen 1 will be taken into account, but if someone else has a better system for my needs when the time comes to upgrade, then so be it.

So I wouldn't worry too much about being loyal to Dell. The system you've ordered looks like a hot setup - but if they can't deliver it, it doesn't matter much, does it? At the end of the day you are paying a vendor to provide you with a laptop - THEY have to earn your $$$, you certainly don't owe loyalty to them.

KevDA, you are so spot on again. I'm actually facing a deadline because we're going o/s in the first week of august for the rest of the month so any delivery would be useless...I guess my neighbour can sign for it, they have the keys to our house. But it's crunch time now or next week (allowing for 2 weeks for delivery).

Dell loyalty just went down the drain with me....

Astute observation and logical reasoning, good one Kev - have to rep you - OH OH you're on the regular rep list anyway.....

I dunno how long we have. I think I am going to call later this afternoon. I just emailed her back. You should too. She has 3 hours, 10 minutes to respond. And we better get the 40% discount, or else!

I forgott to copy the email but I gave her a piece of her mind. I want compensation for this and I want the 7k80GB to ship immediately. And they better not cancel it in the time that it takes for her to email be back...

Shes probably not even real is she? How could we get the same email from the same lady.

She's probably a manager in charge of order fulfillment or some such. They'll have composed a form letter, then have some automated way to fill in each person's name and the part that is causing the delay. Then they have a batch mailer send them out.

As all was looking sweet yesterday, SUDDENLY a huge 100 foot wave comes out of nowhere, tumble the paddlers off their boat. Some nearly drown in the FREAK wave but they all scramble back on. Now dark skies are closing over the hapless rowers..doom, doom...doom is in the air....can they change boats, can they pray to other GODS.....will they reach the land of the fabled 7k100 ?!?!

Tsunami!!! Anyways, she works til 4.. so... it's 1:21 now.. that's why I said 3 hours 10 minutes at the time. I emailed Mr. Shukla though, to see what he thinks. He expedited my order, so maybe I can like... teleport to the fabled 7k100 land.

funny story, but i do feel bad for the guy, kinda sux to run around like a chicken with its head cut off..to find out at the end, that it was easier that what everyone made it out to be
