If I remember correctly, many people were having issues with the Kingmax RAM not working with their M68xx/74xx notebooks.

I remember that as well. However, it works great for me so far. Great deal even when I bought it @ 106 last week.

Well.. it does work just fine in my M6805. I bought it about a month ago from Newegg. Lately many people have reported success with this RAM in their M68** notebooks, in this forum as well as in Newegg customer review..

BEWARE!!!!! I tried that before buying the Kingmax 2700 one. For whatever reason, my laptop wouldn't run on battery with that RAM. Don't remember if I had any problem while the laptop was on power. However, it wouldn't boot on battery and would shut-off if I take the power chord off. So, I had to return it. Don't know if it was a mismatch issue because I didn't remove the 2700 Samsung stick from the inner slot.

The funny part is, I didn't even order that A-Data RAM. I ordered a PQI 3200 stick that some people had reported success with. Instead, I got one "Infineon" stick inside a "PQI" packaging. The module even had a "PQI" sticker on it, but the chips showed "infineon" marking on it. Also, my laptop wouldn't boot with that RAM (not even when on power). So, I asked for a replacement and got this A-Data stick..... again inside a PQI packaging and with a PQI sticker. But I checked the markings on the chip and they matched exactly with those on the A-Data RAM picture in Newegg website. So, be careful before buying this one. I also thought of buying the Kingmax 3200 stick from Newegg. But noticed that the operating voltage of that one is 2.6V, while most other sticks seem to work on 2.5V. So I didn't want to take a chance (especially after that fiasco) and settled for Kingmax 2700.

my friend bought a 1G Kingmax 2700 for his Toshiba last month.
It worked.
I took it and installed it on my M6811
no luck with it.
He bought it from a local retail store, not newegg.

Was it very recently or sometime ago? Because, Kingmax RAM did have problems with M68** laptops, but over last 3/4 months people started having success with it. May be its the Emachine's new Bios, or Kingmax changed something.

Kingmax changed the chips.

This RAM causes major errors on my M6811 w/latest BIOS.

I ordered 2GB of Crucial instead... I'd rather pay more and be sure my machine is 100% stable.

Crucial

I bought 2X1GB of Crucial sticks of RAM and put it in my M6811. I now get random BSOD all the time. Every time I get the message that a device that was recently installed is causing problems. If I uninstall the RAM and put in the ones that shipped, I can run for days without a BSOD. I have run both of these in another machine and had no problems whatsoever. I am starting to think that it is a problem with the machine. I have verified that it is not an overheating issue of the processor, but it could be that the RAM is over heating. Any thoughts?

Kingmax From NewEgg

I've been using this 1GB stick in my M6805 for the past few weeks and it works fine. I use some pretty memory intensive programs and have had no probs. (BIOS is ofo5.poo)

Two sticks of Crucial work great for me!

Kingmax was totally unstable and the BIOS actually reduced the speed and loosened the timings on the RAM to maintain stability.

(157MHz, 3:4:4 - Kingmax, vs. 2.5:3:3 @ 167MHz for the Crucial.)

There was a noticeable performance increase with the faster RAM.
