The exact model I am using is the Samsung SyncMaster 940MW 19" LCD Monitor. I have a monitor arm attached to the back of the desk so it gives the space underneath the monitor back.

I use PIP with this monitor as I work. The sad thing about that is that it only works for TV/AV/S-Video jacks. And while thats not all that bad the AV and S-Video jacks are on the side of the monitor. You can see the cables sticking out in my picture on the left side of the monitor. Not really a big deal for me, just a quirk. It does have component video in the back but that does not work for the pip function sadly.

I run the monitor at the standard resolution for the 15" MBP and its not the most beautiful screen in the world but it gets the job done. I like the widescreen layout and switching back and forth from a 16x9 -> 4x3 was annoying.

The mount I have for the monitor is the Ergotron LCD Arm. Again not the best in the world but it gets the job done.

some right angle jacks might tidy that up for you.

thanks for the info. i'll have to take a look at the monitor. it seems that the mess of wires is inescapable.

i've almost pulled the trigger on that same monitor arm a few times. not sure why i haven't, priorities, i guess, i always seem to walk out of the store w/ something i need more.
