I am lookign for the best laptop that I can possibly buy for under $500. It will mainly be used for wirleess internet and microsoft office but playign games would be nice to

Also 512 of ram would be nice

Under $500 and playing games? I would wait for a Dell offer to come up and spec out an Inspiron. However, $500 isn't going to get you a great system especially if you want to play games.

I remember sega use to have this lil Sega Entry thing for kids had a wireless tv remote and notepad, about 100 bucks to, might try that.

If you really want a laptop save up at least 900 and come back

Check here.

Dell Outlet, Dell Home Office with select coupons, and the aforementioned Walmart are good choices. Occasionally Geeks.com for refurbished units, and at times office supply chains (OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, etc) as well.

Good luck.

i know what u mean dude, im looking for a laptop in about the same price range, i have found some for bout 400-500 most were either celeron M or sempron, i have been tryin to decide on if i want a sempron or a turion. I know this week at compusa there is a turion for 600. I dont want to spend a whole lot i mean if all i am using it for is wireless internet and office and what not.

If you just use it for Internet, e-mail, and typing there's nothing wrong with getting a laptop that just does that.

If you could add $250-$300 to that amount during the period while waiting for next Dell $750 off of $1499 purchase coupon to come along and then order thru fat wallet for more discount ...you could go with a nicely loaded i6000 configuration Pentium machine. I know it means some more money, but for two to three hundred more and the right coupon timing ...it would swing a deal and on a top of the line new Pentium M wide screen machine.

i would probalby do that if i only had $500, get a good system for $800 and you should be good for a couple of years

CD-RW/DVD
up to 1gb ram (most come w/512)
802.11b wireless
1.133Ghz or 1.2 Ghz P3 Mobile

By the way see the Dell posts. Dell is currently offering 35% off of Inspiron lappys over $999. I configured an Inspiron 6000 for $709.50 (after the discount).
