Motherboard died. After the deboggle we had last week where they sent someone out to the house to replace my palm rest and I effectively had to traing the person how to fix my computer. I hate to see the same person come fix my laptop.

Oh it will get fixed, but I will raise holy heck about why I purchased Next Business day support which the fine print of "usually Next Business Day" that in my area is really"never the Next Business Day" because they have no parts here in town.

See Dell contracts BancTec to do their hardware support. Because I live around Tulsa, Ok, we are not large enough for BancTec to have a presence here. They sub contract it to a SmarTech Computers. This means there will never be parts in town. So that means everything is always second day shipped to town. Which also means no one will have any real experience with a Dell XPS for the most part because they support all sorts of stuff.

I'll not buy another Dell.

Oh and when they came out last week to replace my palm rest, the tech didn't bring a screwdriver. I had to lone him mine. He had no idea how to get the palm rest off so I made him look at the new one to figure out where all the screws are and before he started he ask "So what are we doing today?"

Warm fuzzies for everyone!!

Yeah, it does suck.

Re: "never another Dell" - what's the alternative? HP, Sony, etc. would probably contract the same people for support, and if you go the AW / Sager route you have to ship the unit back to them (turn around time in weeks, not days).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that what you're getting is good. Just that the alternatives may not be an improvement (and may in fact be even worse).

KevDA could be right. But I am looking to make sure my next laptop comes from this company in England...cause they have vowed to stick FX and X2 procs in the laptops!!! Along with top of the line GPUs!!

My problem is not the time necessarily. It does piss me off some, but my real problem, is the lack of experience of the Tech that comes out. He does not have experience with the Dell XPS, he didn't bring a screw driver. In this case, I would rather send my laptop to an experienced XPS tech than have to walk the guy that was out her replacing my palmrest through how to replace my motherboard.

Yes, my initial statements we due to my frustration, but my concern after sleeping is how many screws are going to be left over after my laptop is put back together.

I think the company name is Rock Direct.

I plan on buying from them too as soon as I find out if they ship to the US.

Yeah duckhunter is right...thats the name of the company. But this is going to be a while before I buy a new comp because frankly my XPS handles everything I throw at it...so I am gonna wait a loooooong while.

Good luck. They broke NDAs by announcing that they were being released, and will be penalized accordingly. Sager will be the first to ship anyways, as they always are.
