OK, Thanks for clearing that up. NOW I believe! The reason I stated that was that all the searching I did only found references to some program or other telling what CPU or socket it was and I've seen those program be wrong. That's why I asked for better information and I got it.

I STAND CORRECTED.

Thank you!

I chatted with compaq technical support again. This time the guy said that the problem is only with the athlon 4000+. I wonder if he said true. though this time there was no hypertransport shit in the conversation

He said the problem is only with athlon 4000. other cpu's can have it solved iwth a bios update. For the 4000 he said that hp is working on this. I have demanded a replacement. dunno if it will be accepted as my notebook is more than a month old now.
I have an R4000 with the Athlon 3200+ and 2 sticks of 512 RAM. Just flashed the bios with the update from HP labeled F.14 dated 5/27/04. No change in dual channel support and no options for it in the bios. This shoulnd't be new news but it does take care of the HP comment that the problem has been solved in other models.

Hey, there. How about a chat with the technical person at Hp about this.maybe he can help you. I know its hopeless but its better to give it a try. tell us what happens.

Ps:- start by saying you have an amd 4000(pledge innocence later)
